#1-5: Most Anticipated Tracks of 2012

Yesterday, we covered the first half of releases we are eager for. Today, we give you the releases we are dying for. Altogether, the 10 tracks listed will make up a large part of 2012. Be excited for what’s to come. Also, notice how many total tracks are from decedents of the Swedish House Mafia. They seem to be building a conglomerate of music. Not just making their own hits, but making sure those close to them are making them too. Take a look.

#1 Third Party – Feel

It’s hard to argue, the people want ‘Feel.’

This track has been 8 months in the making, now. Originally previewed in the middle of the summer, we were introduced to one of the craftiest sounds we’ve heard in ages. The Cicada vocals are jaw dropping, especially when put through some grueling filters.

The rumor mill that is endlessly turning spat out that this, and other held back tracks from the Swedish House Mafia’s stick-up boys, will be released close to Winter Music Conference and Ultra Music Festival-time. Steve Angello’s Size Records has signed this track.

The genius marketing from the Swedes gave Third Party buzz since the summer that capitalized in sending their ‘Otherside‘ remix, and other releases, skyrocketing in popularity. ‘Feel’ has a cult following like no other song, waiting in the wings, does.

Obviously, non of that is confirmed, but, perhaps, look to see this one sooner than you might think.

#2 Ivan Gough & Feenixpawl feat. Georgi Kay – In My Mind

Perhaps the biggest track ID to come out of the Swedish House Mafia performance at Madison Square Garden, the EDM world buzzed over the new big-room track with gorgeous vocals.

Within minutes of it’s play and a tentative ID as ‘In My Mind,’ we found out that it was the song Axwell debuted a few weeks earlier in Vancouver, Canada.

Axwell’s Axtone Records is to house this track when it is released. And when it is, the world will have a new, possible cross-over, anthem.

#3 Arty, Matisse & Sadko – Trio

This was initially debuted last fall during Arty’s meteoric rise of ‘Around The World‘ and Matisse & Sadko’s vocal mix of ‘Hi Scandanavia!

The Russian trio comes together for a track that straddles the line of progressive and trance better than anyone could imagine. The inspiring melody is a favorite of, yes, them again, the Swedish House Mafia.

‘Trio’ will also be released on Axtone Records sometime in 2012.

#4 Nari & Milani – Atom

Yet another track ID to come out of the Swedish House Mafia show at Madison Square Garden was this. Easily the filthiest track they played and, potentially, one of the filthiest tracks to be released in 2012.

You may remember Boys Will Be Boys’ ‘We Rock.’ ‘Atom’ is a better, darker version of that.

Size Records has control of this one, and if the rumors are true, we won’t have to wait passed March to have the full track.

#5 Avicii & Nicky Romero – Fuck School

Of course the golden boy, Avicii, and our most anticipated artist made this list!

Nicky Romero has been gaining momentum since his ‘Flash’ remix. In the time after, he has stunned the world with banger after banger. ‘Toulouse‘ being the current tune of the moment.

It makes sense that he collaborate with Avicii on a track for 2012. ‘Fuck School’ (which may or may not be tentatively titled) debuted in the fall. Clearly a follow up for ‘Levels‘ and even updating the sound a bit, it was coupled with Justice’s ‘D.A.N.C.E.’ acapella much to the delight of listeners.

With Avicii & Romero’s fingerprints all over this track, it is sure to be one of the most played songs, when it is eventually released, this year.

Great post, and I agree completely. However, the preview used for ‘In My Mind’ sounds like one of the fake remakes of it and not the one they played at Madison Square Garden. Feenixpawl and Ivan Gough have been warning about these fake remakes on their twitters.

Hmmm. Yes, I’ve seen the Simon D remake floating around quite a bit since then. It’s remarkably similar, with the exception with some not-so-crisp drops.

Ok, but why is there not the new ID track from the Swedish House Mafia, the first song that they played at Madison Square Garden?
And Avicii has a lot of ID’s, but maybe the biggest track of Avicii is; “Drop Zone (Avicii Remix)”…

@Tommy I wasn’t blown away by the new SHM ID, personally. I think my colleagues would agree. It will be very popular when it does come out though. I LOVE Avicii’s Drop Zone remix, but I don’t see that one being moved along by any record label anytime soon. Hopefully it is released this year, but it surely isn’t a guarantee. Veech has upward of a dozen ID’s that are in no man’s land. ‘Fuck School’ is surely one of the ones that will be out this year.

@Nico I’m not entirely sure what you said, but the gist I’m getting is that you want to see ‘Spaceman.’ That will be released in a couple of week! We didn’t add anything to the list that was due out shortly.

@Alvaro I did not know that! That’s why I didn’t attach a record label to ‘Fuck School.’ Good for Mix mash though. That’s a huge track to sign!

Be sure to read the first half of the list by clicking ‘first half’ in the intro paragraph!

    cheers everybody!

I think we all know Quasar-Hard Rock Sofa should be on this list, but props to all the other anticipated releases!! Just curious to know your justification for not adding it..

The new Swedish House Mafia ID was very good but I don’t know if it deserves to make top 10 most anticipated. As for “In My Mind”, I think the only clips available are live ones and the one that Axwell used for his Cosmic Opera trailer.

If you look at our list you’ll notice two themes:

    1) We listed two less commercially-recognized artists and their songs
    2) Most of these tracks, with the exception of the Swedish House Mafia at MSG tracks, have been floating around since, at least, the summer.

To the first point, we featured the Bart B More & Tommie Sunshine tracks because much of our staff admires their music. We did not want to have a totally commercial list. It’s known that Bart B More & Tommie Sunshine are well respected in the techno & electro communities. Their tracks are indispensable to our list. We didn’t want to sacrifice them in exchange for a more notable DJ/producers. We do, in fact, like ‘Quasar’ don’t mistake us. But, Tommie Sunshine’s ‘Circle The Drain’ remix is a banger. The Bart B More tracks have had a following since the summer.

To the second point, we wanted this list to be more along the lines of tracks that have been floating for quite some time. Most of the tracks on the list have. The Swedish House Mafia MSG songs we did find to be essential. So much so that we put them on this top 10. But in staying true to the smaller artist we put in, ‘Quasar’ was a casualty. When the decision comes down to ‘In My Mind,’ ‘Atom’ or ‘Quasar,’ ‘Quasar’ will get the short end of the stick. Unfortunately.

Again, we do enjoy ‘Quasar’ very much so. It’s one of many tracks we admire that didn’t make the cut. It goes along with Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike’s ‘Papi’ remix, this Axwell ID that, supposedly, is suppose to gain traction this year and others. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6qVr8XPRdU

@Kevin Agreed, the new SHM ID is nothing to write home about. It will be a huge success when it comes out though.
