This Thanksgiving, once you’re done stuffing your faces with food, trying to avoid talking to your extended family about your career, and nursing your hangover from last night, take some time to consider all the things you’re thankful for this year. We’re thankful for all that the electronic dance music community has to offer, and we’ve listed some of our favorites.
Hit the jump to check out the five things we’re thankful for this Thanksgiving!
5. Talented flow artists
We’re thankful for the glowstringing and gloving enthusiasts out there who make our nights that much brighter and bring their talents to raves, festivals, and concert halls everywhere. It takes a lot of practice to put on a good show and it’s a performance we all benefit from. A lot of people get their start with YouTube tutorials. Check out this video posted by YouTube user schlosser90, dubbed ‘The Most Epicly Filmed Glowstringing Video You Will Ever See’ for some inspiration.
4. Porter Robinson & Zedd
Not only are the two young, talented producers taking the EDM world by storm, but they also allow photos like this to exist on the internet. The friends have toured together and played legendary back-to-back sets at major clubs around the world, and with Porter signing to Astralwerks and Zedd releasing a single with Hayley Williams, they show no signs of slowing down. Let’s all pause for a moment to appreciate the beautiful bromance that is Porter Robinson and Zedd.
3. deadmau5’s Coffee Runs
At this point, you should already know that deadmau5 likes playing around with expensive gadgets and posting super high-quality videos of his cats on his YouTube channel. Earlier this year, deadmau5 posted a video of himself driving to the local Tim Hortons to get coffee in his Ferrari. Following the success of this initial video (it has over 150,000 views), deadmau5 started interviewing fellow DJs during his daily coffee runs, and the results are hilarious.
2. Tommie Sunshine’s Twitter Realness
Tommie Sunshine continues to be a pillar of support in the EDM community, speaking openly about everything from drug abuse at events to the state of the music industry today. We can always rely on his seasoned insight to enlighten and entertain. We’ve selected some of his best tweets here.
Most importantly, we’re thankful for the values of peace, love, unity, and respect that unite us all as fans of electronic dance music. Our community is strong and spans many countries, genres, and generations. Welcome the newcomers, respect the veterans, and keep an open mind to all the that EDM has to offer. We may have all come from different places, but we’re here for the music and the amazing experiences and connections that music brings to our lives. We hope you keep this in your thoughts today, and have a happy Thanksgiving!
