ALBUM PREVIEW: DJ Dan – Disko-Funk Odyssey
And, now, for some house music.
If you’ve been a fan of dance music for some years now, you may have one or two DJ Dan tracks in your iTunes library. The problem is you might not know you do, because like his unassuming name, DJ Dan is a quiet force only understood by higher thinking fans of dance music.
This is far-and-away different from the pop music that some people like to call ‘EDM,’ DJ Dan’s LP is a tour of true house music. Don’t get it confused though, it isn’t the deep underground sound that is emerging, either. It’s house when it rose from the ashes of disco, but with 2012 production.
It’s not called ‘Disko-Funk Odyssey’ for nothing. Think French house with touches of tech. Louis La Roche meets Alex Kenji. The Eiffel Tower dropped onto Ibiza at sunrise.
A must for anyone seeking to dance and not jump.
