Its hard to believe that the kid from Sweden that won Avicii’s ‘Fade Into Darkness’ remix contest back in July is barely 16, but don’t let age deceive you, Jakob Liedholm has talent. The wunderkind has proven his chops time and time again, dropping remixes that have somehow managed to turn house anthems even more housier. (Check out Yuna’s ‘Live Your Life,’ and Alesso’s ‘Clash,’ if you don’t believe me).
His penchant for full on house makes his most recent release, a remix of Archie & Polina’s track ‘Here and Now’ all that more exciting. Liedholm, rather than focusing on the big house synths that he seems to love so much, layers on a dark progressive vibe that turns the uplifting feel of the original into something brooding and ominous. It’s a welcome change of pace and ten minutes of your time very well spent.
