Brittney Bowles, better known as Brazzabelle, is a West Coast up and comer in the PIE artist family, which includes heavy hitters like Mumbai Science and NT89. She holds residencies at both Avalon and Voyeur in California, which are the clubs where most of the big names in dance music play. She has been sitting on this EP for quite awhile, but it is finally available for purchase HERE. The EP also comes with a tasty deep house remix by Cut Snake, and a housier remix from Snowlin. Definitely keep an eye out for this name, as she appears to be doing everything right at the moment!
There have been a ton of rumors going around this summer about the return of Daft Punk. To be honest, it has been hard to visit any dance music resource over the last few months and NOT see content related to the Daft Punk rumor mill. The undeniable truth remains: they have not released new material since the Tron: Legacy soundtrack. This video verifies the fact that they are at least in the studio! For those unfamiliar with the legend that is Nile Rodgers, he is the genius producer behind acts like Parliament Funkadelic, David Bowie, Luther Vandross and Madonna. Just thinking about the prospect of what is being made by Nile and the 2 members of Daft Punk is goosebump-inducing.
Get familiar with this name: Louisahhh!!!. Yes people, get very familiar and prepare to see a lot more of her unique and in-your-face moniker. Not only is she an amazing DJ and producer, but she is also a stunning vocalist, and as you will soon find out from this interview, quite the intellectual. She has released hits with the French techno titan Brodinski on his newly formed and wildly successful label Bromance Records. Both ‘Let The Beat Control Your Body’ and ‘Nobody Rules The Streets’Â Â showcased her brilliant and diverse vocal abilities. She has also put out a track on arguably the most widely respected underground label at the moment, Hot Creations, with the promising Danny Daze. ‘Your Everything’ was rinsed by literally everyone, and you could not walk into a club in Ibiza last season without hearing it. Intrigued? Read more to find out about her budding relationship with Brodinski and Gessafelstein, what kind of music she is into at the moment, and who would DJ at her ideal party. Also, check out her amazing Bromance Summer Mixtape below, further demonstrating that she is indeed the ‘First Lady’ of this new powerhouse label.
“I think that there are some amazing women doing amazing work that is as good, if not better, than many of their male counterparts. Â Similarly, there are a lot of terrible female DJs, but there are a lot of dudes who are bad at DJing too. Â I want to focus not so much on the advantages or disadvantages of being a woman in this game, but what kind of difference gender lends to what we play and what we make. “
Alex Ridha is back on the map, with the imminent release of his highly anticipated 3rd album “Out Of The Black”. He will also be touring for this album with a live show, which is pretty revolutionary considering how well he plays on 4 CDJ’s and a mixer. And word is he will be bringing this live show to Electric Zoo in NYC. ‘XTC’ is a track he has been playing out for awhile. He actually opened with it at last years Electric Zoo and his Webster Hall show in NYC, but it finally sees the light of day… and it is absolutely brilliant. The album comes out in just 3 short days (August 6th), so be prepared for another big offering from Berlin’s finest techno export.
Crystal Castles are back with a new album which will be their third full length album and will be out in September. ‘Plauge’ is their first release from the album, and they are giving it away via SoundCloud. How nice of Alice Glass and co. If you have never had the chance to see Crystal Castles live, their show is a must see. It is what would be called a beautiful disaster, and they sound as crazy as they look. Just click the down arrow on the SoundCloud player to get the track for free!
Following in the footsteps of industry titans like Avicii (Polo) and Tiesto (Guess), Deadmau5 has slowly ventured into the fashion world. The clothing brand Neff (which often is associated with snowboard culture), will design his videogame-influenced brand of t-shirts, hoodies and hats. The Neffmau5 collection was launched July 15th and will be available through tons of online retailers. The great Australian blog Stoney Roads was kind enough to put together a rather thorough collection of all things Neffmau5. Check it out HERE.
BONUS: Deadmau5 recently did a rework of the Nine Inch Nails classic ‘Survivialism’. Many of the electro-house greats draw influence from Trent Reznor, the genius producer behind Nine Inch Nails who has recently (and quite successfully) began scoring films such as The Social Network and The Girl With The Dragoon Tattoo.
In anticipation of his new album Out Of The Black being released October 2nd, Boys Noize gives us a taste of what is to come. The track has tinges of hip hop sampling and is clearly not your standard Boys Noize track. It has a more dubby feel and departs drastically from the maximal electro sound his fans are accustomed to. Still, the production sounds huge and one can only imagine how raw and amazing the entire album will be. Both Oi Oi Oi and Power were game changing bodies of work, so expect nothing less on October 2nd from Alex Ridha. Listen to the track streamed exclusively on Rolling Stone .
There was a sizable amount of buzz around this Electric Beach show due to the secret guest aspect of the night, and it certainly lived up to expectations. With a headlining set from EDX, who has come off a stream of hot releases in 2012, and tasteful opening and closing sets by EO favorite Hyperbits who just had their first original chart on Beatport, this particular night at Santos was one for the books.
The venue was packed at earlier than usual, with Robert and Serik falling into a groove early on. It sounded as though they were able to construct the ideal opening set, meticulously straddling the lines between big room bangers and groovy/driving tunes. Notable tracks included almost all of their own bootlegs (the biggest crowd-pleaser being ‘Move For Pong‘), their new original ‘Move‘ and their most recent edit of Deadmau5′s ‘The Veldt’, which is available for free download below.
Next up, the room seemed to have a good feeling as to who the secret guest was, but EDX still came out firing. He played proven club weapons like ‘Kaskade Vs. Tiesto, Hardwell, EDX & Marco V – Angel On My Shoulder Reaver 76 (Kaskade Mashup)‘, and his own ‘Sunset Miracles’ and ‘Everything’. The set went over so well that we can only hope Santos will again lend itself to another big name producer wishing to surprise the rapidly growing NYC dance music fan base.
