mjc EVENT: Verboten Presents Maya Jane Coles / Ewan Pearson / James Teej/ Stadenco @ Highline Ballroom

At this point, Verboten and Fridays at Highline Ballroom have become synonymous with the premier sounds of the deep/tech house scene. That trend will continue this week when 24 year old prodigy Maya Jane Coles leads a stable of talent that are all worthy of top billing.

After taking the underground world by storm in 2011, Cole’s (affectionately referred to as MJC at the EO headquarters) has been producing deep house that is just appealing to everyone, no matter your musical preference. It is actually a little insane how good she can be. Her now infamous Essential Mix from 2011 speaks for itself.

Ewan Pearson and James Teej both come with a wealth of experience behind the decks. Pearson has been making tracks for nearly as long as MJC has been alive! Aside from his own music, the UK native has lent his production talents to many artists, most recently an upcoming album for Footprintz. Meanwhile, rising Canadian star, James Teej, comes through on the night in support of his upcoming album ‘Eight Bit Ocean’ set to drop on April 22nd. He has become a leader of the scene in the great white north, as well as just making some really unique and tasteful music.

And let’s not forget Verboten resident DJ, Stadenco, will also be in the building to get things started.

Treat yourself to an amazing night of sound and snag tickets here.

Dan Gravelle – Far Away feat. Vuk Lazar

far away Dan Gravelle – Far Away feat. Vuk Lazar
Does this name ring a bell? It might not to you, but it sure does here at EO headquarters. Meet Dan Gravelle, the first ever winner of our long running Indaba Music Spotlight contest.

Way back in 2011 when picking Far Away as the winning track, we called it “anthem-esque” and “really well produced…sounds legit as hell.” And that was just the unmastered version! The fully produced and remastered rendition is a crisp and clean sounding track with the big emotive trance chords we all know and love.

Since being crowned our winner, Dan has been pumping out even more content, culminating in a 14 track album of original tracks titled, Sky High. The album dropped yesterday on iTunes and is a diverse collection of trance, house, and some downtempo melodies. You can sneak a full preview of the album on his SoundCloud.

But more than anything, congrats to Dan Gravelle on the big release! And hey, ya never know, maybe our next Indaba Music Spotlight winner will hit the big time too. You can still enter for contest #8!

Be sure to head over to Dan’s Facebook page for a FREE download of ‘Far Away’ and show some love, and head over to Vuk Lazar’s page too to support those great vocals.

Krewella – Alive (Hyperbits Remix)

krewella alive hyperbits Krewella Alive (Hyperbits Remix)
After a #18 Beatport Top 100 release, and announcements of forthcoming releases on Armada Music and Infrasonic Recordings, Hyperbits is giving away their genre-defying big room club remix of Krewella’s ‘Alive’ as a free download for reaching 2K likes.

With a drop that hits as hard as the Armin and W&W collab ‘D# Phat’, while maintaining the percussive edge of club anthems like Quinto’s ‘Epic’ or Jewelz, Scott Sparks ‘Toxic Rush’, this is no doubt the largest Hyperbits production offering to date. With Anjunabeats styled distorted bass, and Krewella’s melodically spot-on vocal performance, and a huge break-beat bridge, this remix will stand it’s own through the mish-mosh of mediocre ‘Alive’ remixes haunting the blogospheres. This remix is nothing short of an incredible, peak-time club record. Grab this one for free here.

79426 lg1 EVENT: W&W and Jochen Miller@ Best Buy Theater 3.30

One of the best parts of massive tours like ASOT600 is the talent that rides the wave into town with it. After Saturday’s sure to be massive show at MSG, W&W, Jochen Miller, and Eco will be keeping the party going at the Best Buy Theater.

It’s hard to deny W&W are staples in the trance and progressive house world, most recently flexing those muscles with their collaboration with Armin himself, D# Flat. The Dutch duo has been at it for quite some time, so they are sure to deliver on a big stage in NYC. Same can be said for fellow Dutchman Jochen Miller, who is no stranger to playing to a full house will surely be dropping his latest crowd pleaser “Wild and Perfect Day” when the theater is peaking with energy. Local talent Eco has had the privilege to travel in support of ASOT600 and you can bet he will have a special set ready to go for his hometown crowd.

Tickets are sold out but if you can find a way in, it promises to be one of the best options to keep celebrating the historic ASOT600 milestone.

Hyperbits – Pipe Dreams

After last month’s chart topping #18 Beatport Trance single ‘Close Your Eyes & See’ feat. Skela, Hyperbits has released a tasteful progressive gem entitled ‘Pipe Dreams’ out on Beatport today, March 19th. This vocal cut is extremely melodic, something we’ve become very acquainted with when it comes to Hyperbits releases.

Channeling the aggresive electro stabs of Porter Robinson or Zedd, and pairing that with the trancey and structurally perfect work of 4Strings or Mat Zo, ‘Pipe Dreams’ is bound to be a successful peak-time weapon. With such versatility comprised in a single track, look for this one to receive substantial worldwide support. Don’t forget to Like Hyperbits on Facebook and follow them on Twitter & Instagram.
