CONTEST: Win Bottle Service at Santos Party House for Norin & Rad

By Staff on May 7th 2013

NorinradSantos CONTEST: Win Bottle Service at Santos Party House for Norin & Rad

Norin & Rad is a name you better get used to hearing. Tipped as stars of the future by Above & Beyond back in 2011, Bruce Karlsson and Nick Sember have lived up to that billing and more. Since their breakthrough smash “Bloom”, the Californian upstarts have been producing the most futuristic trance-influenced grooves and progressive EDM around with a string of Anjunabeats anthems such as “Zion”, “DeVas”, “Pistol Whip” and “Five Finger Death Punch”.

Always standing out from the crowd, Norin & Rad’s sound is a melting pot of influences that is entirely their own. Influenced by all forms of EDM and beyond, their current production output varies from the anthemic rush of “Aldo” to the rave-influenced progressive house riot that is “Bird Is The Word” through to forthcoming glitch-hop bomb “Rectify”.

As full of energy as their music, the duo’s unique approach behind the decks and fast-cutting DJ style has earned them rightful reputations as party starters of the highest order. In the last 12 months alone, these two Southern Californian boys have played some of Australia’s biggest arenas with Above & Beyond, as well as rocking everywhere from New York’s legendary Roseland Ballroom to India’s Jayamahal Palace. On the festival circuit, they have already conquered the stages of Miam’s Ultra, EDC Las Vegas, Electric Zoo in New York and Tomorrowland in Belgium. This summer will bring a highly anticipated appearance at Creamfields UK, a show at Amnesia for Cream Ibiza and a full European tour.

Lucky for you can enter to win a chance for you and 5 friends to have a table and bottle at Saturday’s show. The lucky winner will be announced Friday afternoon. NEWS: Anjunabeats Statement Concerning the Infringement of Copyright

By Staff on May 2nd 2013

music americanmusicawards NEWS: Anjunabeats Statement Concerning the Infringement of Copyright

Anjunabeats has today issued a short statement regarding the infringement of copyright on the Will.i.am track “Let’s Go featuring Chris Brown”. Here it is in full:

STATEMENT FROM ANJUNABEATS CONCERNING THE INFRINGEMENT OF COPYRIGHT ON THE WILL.I.AM TRACK “LET’S GO FEATURING CHRIS BROWN”

“Anjunabeats is the record label behind Arty and Mat Zo and owns the master recording rights to their collaboration “Rebound.” Mat Zo and Arty have been important members of the Anjunabeats family for a number of years and “Rebound” was one of the label’s most popular releases in 2011.

As has been widely reported, a large section of “Rebound” was sampled on Will.i.am’s track “Let’s Go featuring Chris Brown” and this took place without the permission of Anjunabeats or Arty & Mat Zo.

Although Arty (but not Mat Zo) was credited in the sleeve notes, this is not the same as obtaining permission. To present someone else’s work as your own, you need to seek permission, agree terms and file paperwork, which has not happened in this case.

We’ve remained silent on this issue until now but as a record label it is our obligation to protect our artists’ interests and we felt it was necessary to respond to some of the inaccuracies that have been reported following Will.i.am’s recent comments to Associated Press.”

EVENT: Gramatik @ Webster Hall 5.03

gramatik EVENT: Gramatik @ Webster Hall 5.03

This Friday, May 3rd, Webster Hall’s “Girls and Boys Night,” is about to get funky. Pretty Lights Music’s own, Gramatik will be in the house dropping his signature style for all the girls and boys to get down to.

With over 100,000 tracks sold on Beatport, Gramatik earned nominations at the 2010 and 2012 Beatport Awards for “Best Chill Out Artist” and “Best Chill Out Track,” respectively. Unafraid to break through boundaries and cross genres, Gramatik has sampled everything from the blues to The Beatles. Throughout his entire catalog is an abundance of musical influences, including jazz, soul, hip-hop, and funk. What’s apparent, as his soundcloud page would suggest, is that even Gramatik himself, struggles to classify exactly what genre he’s producing. But as long as the Slovenian producer keeps dropping hits, we have no qualms about that.

PREVIEW: Hyperbits – Pipe Dreams

By Staff on March 11th 2013

Pipe Dreams Artwork PREVIEW: Hyperbits Pipe Dreams

After last month’s chart topping #18 Beatport Trance single ‘Close Your Eyes & See’ feat. Skela, Hyperbits is back with a tasteful progressive gem entitled ‘Pipe Dreams’ out on Beatport March 19th. This vocal cut is extremely melodic, something we’ve become very acquainted with when it comes to Hyperbits releases.

Channeling the aggresive electro stabs of Porter Robinson or Zedd, and pairing that with the trancey and structurally perfect work of 4Strings or Mat Zo, ‘Pipe Dreams’ is bound to be a successful peak-time weapon. With such versatility comprised in a single track, look for this one to receive substantial worldwide support. Don’t forget to Like Hyperbits on Facebook and follow them on Twitter & Instagram.

PREVIEW: Hyperbits – Close Your Eyes & See feat. Skela EP

The next release from Red Soho Recordings, a relatively new label that has already received support from the likes of Armin van Buuren and Nic Chagal (Cosmic Gate), is an EP from the promising NYC duo, Hyperbits. The original track is a wonderful, peak time vocal cut that manages to strike the perfect balance between uplifting progressive melodies and big-room club music. The package also comes equipped with two stellar remixes from label owner Hazem Beltaguti and rising Armada and Anjuna supported talent, Jjoo. All three mixes of the track differ widely so as to provide the perfect EP package, complete with beautiful, lush vocals provided by Skela.

Just the second official release for Hyperbits, these guys are already making big waves with their consistent remix/bootleg output and great club sets all over NYC and throughout the United States. Hyperbits have an amazing release schedule lined up in 2013 so expect more both gig and release wise. Now, more than ever, it is hard to carve out a niche and become relevant in the crowded “EDM” space, but with tracks like this, it is hard to bet against Hyperbits in the trance and progressive realm.
