One of the most talked about up-and-coming producers in dubstep right now is Joel Metz, aka Farkas. Hailing from Sweden, his debut release out on Biscuit Factory Records ‘Meet the Farkas Part 1′ is comprised of two tracks you’re sure to recognize from the massive support they’ve gotten. On stations like BBC Radio 1, RinseFM and KISSFM, this release was a staple in sets for months.
The a-side Harmlesss is a haunting, absolute roller with its teasing intro and murky sounds. Tribal Dance, linked below, is a crowd pleaser every time I’ve heard it live, and most definitely one to get the crowd bouncing with its infectious melody. The biggest DJs in the game, from Skream and Benga to Hatcha and N-Type, have been battering Farkas’ music, specifically this release. Make sure you get your hands on it. Out on digital March 26th, you can order the vinyl now in test press from the Biscuit Factory Records page linked below. Keep it locked to EO for more information on releases from Biscuit Factory and Farkas as 2012 is guaranteed to be a huge year for both.
This past friday, BFM:BKLYN and Sub Swara hosted a ridiculous night at Public Assembly in Williamsburg with a crazy line up of Max Mischief, Hellfire Machina, Noah D, and Sub Swara. Bass Fueled Mischief never ceases to impress, as they always live up to their name, and they’re always ALL about the music. (To be honest, I was slightly worried about this show as the venue was pretty empty at the beginning of the night, but it ended up getting PACKED before midnight and stayed that way until the night ended. It was an absolute party.) The night was MC’d by Posi-D, of course, who’s always really fun and is a total crowd-pleaser. (Did anyone else hear him sneak in a Chuck D verse? Haha.)
Two weeks ago, we announced a new feature called The Monday Mix. It was SUPPOSED to be a weekly mix (done by us) featuring some of out favorite tracks at the moment. Since then, we’ve been working on an even bigger surprise for our readers (which is why we skipped last week… sorry!). Starting today, The Monday Mix will be an exclusive mix done just for EO and its readers by some of the biggest up and coming names in dubstep!

This Friday, Bass Fueled Mischief and Sub Swara are teaming up to bring one of the top dubstep producers from the US to NYC: Noah D! You guys might know Noah D from his hit track ‘Seeeriousss’ which became a full-fledged dubstep anthem in 2009, being dropped on virtually every dance floor in the world and is still being rinsed in sets today. His most recent track ‘Clash’ is currently holding a spot in the Beatport Dubstep Top 100.
BFM and Electronica Oasis will also be holding a ticket giveaway on Twitter! One winner (21+) will receive a pair of tickets to the show and will be notified on Friday. To enter, tweet:
‘Hey @ElectronicOasis, I want to win 2 tix to @BassFueled @noahdmusic @HellfireMachina @SubSwara @MaxMischief at @PublicAssembly #EOGiveaway’
Kill The Noise, one of the boys from Skrillex’s OWSLA record label, and Datsik, supported by Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak Records, have teamed up to release the new single Lightspeed. While Kill The Noise and Datsik are known for their pretty filthy dubstep beats, Lightspeed is set to a solid house beat and loaded up with synthesizers. But don’t worry, the wubz are a-plenty and this track might just make you shit your pants. It’s a keeper.
Purple/dubstep/glitch-hop producer MartyParty has just released his newest mixtape, ‘Partytime’ on Earmilk. Some of you might actually be familiar with a lot of the tracks on here as he has played bunch of them in his ‘Six Shots of Jameson’ tour set. One of my favorite tracks on this mix tape is the A$AP Rocky purple remix which he also played at his show at Drom in NYC (REVIEW HERE). Check it out!
We decided it was time to bring our readers a bit of a treat! Beginning this week, we will feature an original mix of some of our favorite tracks (old and new), rotating each week between dubstep and underground tech house. Up this week is a dubstep mix featuring some of the hottest tunes coming out of the UK. Check the track list below. Don’t forget to support the artists, click any of the tracks for a download link.

Noisia is comprised of 3 versatile Dutch producers that have influenced artists ranging from Deadmau5 to Wolfgang Gartner to Porter Robinson. Their full length debut, Split The Atom, was released in 2010 to critical acclaim, and Deadmau5 chose to re-release the album on his esteemed imprint mau5trap.
Noisia will tour across Europe and then head stateside for a select run of dates which include a headlining show at New York City’s Webster Hall Friday, April 13, and anticipated performances at this year’s Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival Sunday, April 15, and Sunday, April 22. Earlier today, Joel Zimmerman himself shared Noisia’s new work on his facebook and said “are you fucking kidding me right now?”. If you want to hear the music that is impressing arguably the most skillful producer of our generation, listen below and support these talented producers from the Netherlands!
This past Friday, Girls & Boys brought an incredibly talented group of artists to Webster Hall: D1, Subscape, Caspa, and Trolley Snatcha of the Dub Police record label. A lot of people think that nights dedicated to solely dubstep DJs are little repetitive and not worth it, but these guys really stepped up to the plate. When I first saw the stage, I noticed the table was filled with CDJs, decks, AND NO LAPTOPS! Not a single laptop was brought on stage the entire night (each producer did come on stage with a GIGANTIC binder of CDs though!) which I can definitely respect. The theme song for the night was Caspa’s remix of Buraka Som Sistema’s Hangover, one of the hugest tunes out right now.
