This is the year for Taiki & NUlight. They’ve already been incredibly busy playing gigs all around Europe (including some festivals this summer). Their tracks have been played by some of the hugest names in dubstep. They’ve had releases announced on Benga Beats, Sin City Recordings, Biscuit Factory Records, and yesterday, they released their ‘Coming Up’ EP on Subway Music. I cannot even begin to explain how good this EP is. The first track (and one of my favorites), ‘Coming Up’, has a beautiful asian-influenced intro but don’t be fooled! The track quickly turns into a dirty tune guaranteed to get any room full of people bumping and grinding. Another favorite track of mine is ‘Impulse’ which is super dark and again super dirty. You should definitely keep an ear out for these guys.. they’re going to be huge.

Last month, we brought you news of Dub Police‘s 7-stop US tour (and the release of Trolley Snatcha’s ‘Subtext’ EP). Well the time is finally upon us! Dub Police are kicking off their tour tonight in San Francisco, and are making a stop in NYC at Girls & Boys this Friday, February 24th at Webster Hall. The tour’s lineup includes some of the labels top notch producers such as dubstep legend Caspa, along with Trolley Snatcha, Subscape, and D1. The last time Caspa was at Webster Hall (an early xmas present on 12/23), he absolutely killed it and I’m so ready for more! Prepare yourself, because this time around is going to be even crazier! You definitely don’t want to miss this event so grab your tickets here!
If you can make it to the show, keep an eye out for us! If not, check the site next week for our review, pics, and videos of the show!
UK dubstep producer Vodex (aka Luke Earl) only started producing dubstep a little over a year ago but that doesn’t mean he isn’t exceptional at what he does. Over the past couple of months, he’s dropped so many bangers on us and has gained support from huge names such as Hatcha, Coki, Emalkay, and Eddie K. Today, he released his ‘Generation Monsters’ EP on BassClash Records and it is absolutely incredible. ‘Generation Monsters’ consists of five of the darkest and dirtiest tracks you’ve ever heard, my personal favorite being the title track. Vodex is definitely a name you should look out for in 2012! With more upcoming releases on BassClash Records, and Sin City Recordings, this is going to be a big year for him.

Around 11pm, BFM’s own Max Mischief, and the MC of the night Posi-D, took the stage and really riled up the crowd. The event didn’t even until the wee hours of the morning, closing after 4am with NEOREV.
EA Games ‘Syndicate‘ (a reboot of the original 1993 game) has been making a splash via their collaborative efforts with EDM producers such as Flux Pavilion, Digitalism, and 3-time Grammy winner Skrillex. The latest to be released is an exclusive remix of the Syndicate theme song by UK’s coolest dubstep and drum & bass duo NERO.

NERO (Dan Stephens and Joe Ray) unleashed their explosive full-length album ‘Welcome Reality‘ stateside this past December on Cherrytree/Interscope and has been making a huge impact on EDM over the past year. They’ve released seven singles off of ‘Welcome Reality’, the latest being ‘Must Be The Feeling’, due out March 4th (check it out here). In December, they played a secret show at the Beats By Dre pop-up store in Soho (in which Dr Dre was in attendance), and their hit track ‘Me & You’ was also featured in a Beats By Dre commercial. NERO are making a return to the US this spring with their ‘Second Reality’ Tour, stopping at Roseland Ballroom in NYC on March 31st (details here).

Grammys, shammys. Skrillex has now officially made it: he’s in a gossip rag! US Weekly to be precise – on the rumor that he is dating Neon Gold darling, singer/songwriter Ellie Goulding. So this gives strength to the assertion that DJs are the next rock stars. Next thing you know Afrojack will be dating Paris Hilton! Oh…wait….
Heads up NYC! TWISUP vs LIT CITY TRAX has just been announced today with a KILLER headliner: DMZ member and Swamp 81 founder (and all-around dubstep legend) Loefah! Full line-up includes:
LOEFAH (Swamp 81/DMZ, UK) DJ RASHAD b2b DJ SPINN (Planet Mu/Lit City, CHI) FALTY DL b2b DAVE Q

Last month, purple/dubstep/glitch hop producer MartyParty dropped his newest EP ‘Six Shots of Jameson’ (which reached #7 on the iTunes dance music chart!), and his 27-stop US tour of the same name. This Friday, Bass Fueled Mischief and MartyParty are bringing the ‘Six Shots’ tour to Drom in NYC! Special guests include Hellfire Machina, Max Mischief, and NEOREV. The night is going to be an absolute party and you DO NOT want to miss it! If you haven’t yet, you can still grab tickets here (21+). Doors are at 11pm!
BFM and Electronica Oasis will also be holding a ticket giveaway on Twitter! One winner will receive a pair of tickets to the show and will be notified on Friday. To enter, tweet:
“Hey @ElectronicOasis, I want to win 2 tix to @BassFueled @martypartymusic @HellfireMachina at @dromnyc this Friday #EOgiveaway”
Webster Hall‘s weekly Friday (and sometimes more often than that since there just aren’t enough Fridays in the year!) night electronic dance music party, Girls & Boys, has consistently booked some really stellar acts over the past couple of years and this past weekend was no different. Scion A/V and Girls & Boys brought dubstep bigwig 12th Planet‘s ‘The End is Near’ Tour with Kastle, Flinch, and Kill The Noise to the NYC venue. (Music aside, they also had some pretty sick merch for sale at the show! One lucky fan even got to meet 12th Planet and the gang courtesy of Hex.) To say they rocked the house is a complete understatement as even Alex English (creator of Girls & Boys, and Webster resident DJ) was worried the floor would fall through.

With dubstep on the rise Knife Party are definitely one of the pace setters to look out for. After ending 2011 with a bang, releasing their first EP ‘No Modern Taking,’ the members that used to comprise Pendulum, Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen, are back in action on the most coveted radio shows – BBC Radio 1′s Essential. Your hard hitting obnoxious tracks to look out for in this set are Knife’s remix of Porter Robinson’s ‘Unison,’ Skrillex’s ‘Kyoto,’ and ‘Destroy Them With Lazers‘ straight out of their very own ‘No Modern Talking.’
