PREVIEW: Kenneth G – Bazinga

By Lumbajack (@LumbaJack_EO) on February 8th 2012

Sheldon Cooper would be proud. Even if there is no correlation with the sitcom, The Big Bang Theory, this title is great exposure for Kenneth G’s production career (no, not the Jazz saxophonist).

These past few years, many up and coming DJ’s have been emerging into the scene. Kenneth Geoffrey Oudejans resides in Amsterdam and has been involved with EDM since 2009. He co-produced a track called, ‘Konichiwa Bitches’ with EO favorite, Nicky Romero. Just a few years later in 2012, Kenneth G was scooped up by Bingo Player’s label, Hysteria Records and will be releasing his brand new track, ‘Bazinga.’

The track itself is a gem. Everything about it is phenomenal, from it’s acid sounding synths to it’s massive dutch inspired drop. Keep an eye out for this one, release date is set for March 5th. Banzinga!

Episode #5: Tiësto’s In The Booth Series

By MichelleKUPP (@MichelleKUPP) on February 7th 2012

In Episode #5 of Tiësto’s now prolific In The Booth YouTube series, he and his tour manager Kelly Cobb struggle through structural issues prior to a long-awaited Mexican show. Some might remember when Tiësto tweeted about this in November, turning an epic production into a more low-key pool party at Nikki Beach. But all is not lost as Tiësto then hops the border for a headlining gig at EDC Las Vegas.

Nicky Romero – Generation 303

By MichelleKUPP (@MichelleKUPP) on February 6th 2012

Generation 303 Nicky Romero Generation 303

Generation 303 is one of those tracks that have been waited on for quite awhile. EO has been keeping you updated on the various developments surrounding Nicky Romero’s acid-banging masterpiece and now the day has finally come. This is Nicky’s first release on fellow Dutchman Tiësto’s label Musical Freedom. This is going to be Nicky’s year, having been named #1 on the list of Most Anticipated Artists of 2012. In fact, a brand new remix that he completed for Madonna was played during her half-time Super Bowl performance Sunday. Between that and Avicii’s cameo for Bud Light, it is now conclusive that this is the era of beats.

Generation 303 takes the numerical part of its title from the Roland TB-303, an 80s era bass synthesizer that was the sound of acid and techno house. Generation 303 embodies the typical qualities of an acid house track, utilizing a repetitive almost trance like beat to bring the listener a sense of hypnosis, in addition to featuring short snippets of vocals. Nicky’s rendition of the genre is just terribly successful. It’s being played in regular rotation by any number of DJs, including Nicky, and should definitely be added to your daily listening routine.

Firebeatz – Where’s Your Head At

By Lumbajack (@LumbaJack_EO) on January 31st 2012

After hearing the Klaas remix of the always classic ‘Where’s Your Head At’ by UK’s Basement Jaxx, I never thought another producer could top it. That is until the Holland based duo, Firebeatz blew it out of the water with their brand new remix released on Spinnin’ Records, January 30th, 2012. After hearing their Prodigy remix of ‘Funky Shit’ I was highly anticipating what remix they’d tackle next. Firebeatz knows exactly how to warp any track into a hard-hitting, head-bobbing, body-shaking banger. This track is the definition of electronic chaos!

PREVIEW: Bingo Players – L’Amour

By Lumbajack (@LumbaJack_EO) on January 31st 2012

I can remember when Bingo Players dropped ‘Get On The Move‘ a few years ago and it absolutely blew my mind. Just a few years later, we nominated the Dutch duo as one of our top 10 most anticipated artists of 2012. These two fellas have been releasing nothing but the best with originals such as, ‘Cry Just A Little,’ ‘Sliced (with EO favorite, Nicky Romero), ‘Lame-Brained,’ ‘Rattle,’ ‘Mode,’ and now ‘L’Amour.’ I’ve told multiple people, Acid-House is back with no remorse with notable artists using acid-inspired sounds in their tracks. Bingo Players utilized the lovable acid synth and made a monster. Release date set for February 20th, 2012 on Hysteria Records, stay tuned!

Apster – Goldcoast

Finally! After months of being teased by Afrojack, on both his radio show and in his live sets, Wall Recordings have finally released ‘Goldcoast.’

This electro wonder not only updates Bassjackers ‘Mush, Mush‘ sound but pays homage to DJ Mehdi by incorporating aspects of ‘Signature.’

Still, uniquely, his own, ‘Goldcoast’ will be a well supported track on the electro and Dutch circuits.

Nicky Romero Hits The 88s

By MichelleKUPP (@MichelleKUPP) on January 27th 2012

Clearly Nicky Romero is super talented as far as production goes, and now it’s very clear why after watching him “play a few chords” on Freddy Mercury’s grand piano, as he just tweeted. We love love love Nicky here at EO, we’re dying for him to come back after his amazing show last weekend at Pacha. Here’s to wishing a speedy return! Enjoy the video of Nicky really showing his skills on the keys.
