PREVIEW: Quintino – The One And Only

By MichelleKUPP (@MichelleKUPP) on January 4th 2012

Quintino had the privilege just a few short weeks ago of bringing the crowd home during the third installment of Pacha’s 6th year anniversary extravaganza, which EO had the chance to witness and review. Just a few minutes ago Afrojack tweeted that an exclusive preview of The One And Only is now on Spinnin’ TV for your viewing pleasure. Slated for release Jan. 9 on Wall Recordings, Afrojack first debuted the track at this summer’s Electric Zoo and boasts the signature bleeps and blops that is unique to his and his protégés’s trademark house style.

PREVIEW: Hardwell – Spaceman

By MichelleKUPP (@MichelleKUPP) on December 22nd 2011

A few weeks ago I wrote that Hardwell had dropped his brand new un-released track Spaceman at Pacha during the venue’s anniversary series. Well now we can show you an official preview directly from Hardwell. This is a pretty heavily hyped track and its slated for release January 23 on Revealed Recordings. Hardwell is going to be a big name, following in the tradition of his Dutch predecessors such as Tiësto, whom Hardwell collaborated with on for Zero 76 and is undoubtedly one of the biggest and most played tracks of the year. Enjoy this new clip!

Nicky Romero – Toulouse

Toulouse Nicky Romero Toulouse

Nicky Romero is slated to have a very big year. Toulouse dropped today, courtesy of Spinnin’ Records. Friday night Swedish House Mafia dropped a sample of Nicky’s remix of Green Velvet – Flash at Madison Square Garden. Toulouse is marked by Nicky’s signature elevated bass drops mixed with a distinctly synthy beat. Swanky Tunes named Nicky as one of their top up and coming DJs, so I’m excited to see what else the new year brings from him.

PREVIEW: Sidney Samson – Hold Up

By Lumbajack (@LumbaJack_EO) on December 17th 2011

Well well well, what do we have here? Since I’m sitting here bored as hell watching the live-stream of Swedish House Mafia.. ‘kill..’ it in MSG, might as well dig a little bit. Sidney Samson unleashed a new preview of this new track with an ‘Afrojackey’ kind of a sound to it. I personally like it, I dig that weird dutchy ring that creates this creepy yet enjoyable sort of a feeling. Kind of like playing laser tag when you’re over 20 years old? The build is pretty cool and the drop definitely will be club worthy. With past releases like ‘Tomahawk,’ ‘Mutate,’ ‘Riverside,’ and more, Sid is definitely on a production heater. Released on the little brother of Spinnin’ Records, Rock The Houze, the release date is set for January 2nd, 2012. Happy New Year!

Kaskade – Turn It Down (Deniz Koyu, Nause, Le Castle Vania & Carli Remixes)

By Joey Joey Joey (@JoeyJoeyJoeyy) on December 13th 2011

Kaskade with Rebecca Fiona Turn It Down Remixes 1 Kaskade – Turn It Down (Deniz Koyu, Nause, Le Castle Vania & Carli Remixes)

Massive remix package from Kaskade’s fall single ‘Turn It Down‘ with Rebecca & Fiona.

Deniz Koyu, Nause, La Castle Vania and Carli were brought on to reshape the ‘Fire & Ice’ single and each killed it in their own translation.

Koyu opted for an in-your-face festival track, speeding up the breakdown. Nause, the Swedish duo, went for an electronica drop that fits its affection for indie. Le Castle Vania of Atlanta, GA went for an electro house remix that could get play from everyone from Porter Robinson to Kaskade himself. Carli may be the most obscure name out of the remix package. The Carli version is the official dirty Dutch remix of ‘Turn It Down.’ It’s aggressive but not thoughtless, perhaps the most intriguing remix in the package.

Enjoy, you’re likely to blast at least one of these tunes.

Avicii – Levels (Hardwell Bootleg)

By MichelleKUPP (@MichelleKUPP) on December 13th 2011

Hardwell Levels Avicii Levels (Hardwell Bootleg)

Wakeup call! Hardwell got me going this morning by posting on his Facebook that a bootleg of his AviciiLevels mix is now available for download here. We previewed this killer remix for you after Hardwell asked the ravers at Pacha to get on Avicii’s case to release a remix package for Levels during his crowd shaking show there. It was a great track that night and it’s even better now. With a drawn out, windy lead-up seguing into the ubiquitously recognizable Levels chords, this is a track that will keep your playlist fresh. Don’t forget that there are some Afrojack-like grinds and bleeps, of course!

REVIEW: Fedde Le Grand @ Pacha NYC 12/09/11 (Review, Videos)

By Lumbajack (@LumbaJack_EO) on December 12th 2011

Fedde Le Grand dropping his infamous ‘Paradise’ Remix by Coldplay

This years Pacha Anniversary has been nothing short of spectacular hosting the world’s best DJs each week. So far we’ve seen: Tiesto, Loco Dice, Saturday’s ‘Super-show‘ with Adrian Lux, Hardwell, Martin Solveig and Quintino. Now Celebration #4 with Deniz Koyu and Fedde Le Grand is officially in the books. Fedde has been on his ‘North America Takeover‘ Tour starting just a few days ago on the 7th in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Hurricane Fedde is on a one way path of electronic destruction having not one cent of mercy. I’m always finding myself in the presence of Fedde Le Grand whenever he is in New York. His infamous live DJ skills and tasteful choices in tracks, picking them on the spot is an incredible thing to witness. All I can say was hearing the floor shaking to ‘So Much Love‘ in the beginning of his set was one hint that the next day would be filled with ice packs, Advil and house music (In a good way). Hyperbits Mashups: Wolfgang vs. Pink & Zedd vs. Kesha

By Joey Joey Joey (@JoeyJoeyJoeyy) on December 8th 2011

hyperbitsmashups Hyperbits Mashups: Wolfgang vs. Pink & Zedd vs. Kesha

The Hyperbits are back with two Top 40-inspired mash ups. But, no they haven’t sold out. They’ve just done what many people see as impossible: Making a Pink & Ke$ha song good.

‘We don’t like pop music and find it pathetic that a track like Ke$ha’s ‘Tik-Tok’ actually sold more copies than any Beatles single. But, sometimes, you can’t ignore something that works really well,’ the duo said.

And works it does!

‘We R Who We Shave’ is certainty iTunes worthy. From the 1-minute mark on, when Zedd’s ‘Shave It‘ bleeps up on us, Ke$ha’s vocals go from pop-dance to electro house. It’s a refreshing feeling when are suspicions are confirmed after the first drop. Yep, it’s a banger!

‘Raise Your Glass The Way It Was,’ is the better of the two tracks from a live-DJ perspective. The subtle drop won’t make you jump, because it isn’t supposed to. It’s supposed to make you dance. And dance you shall.
