While everyone seems to be copying the Nicky Romero ‘Toulouse‘ sound (including Romero,) Gartner looks to be sticking to a much stricter electro sound. Not the glitchy, fidget sound that got him popular, but a Deadmau5-inspired electro hybrid.
Kind of hard to explain. It’s just not ‘Toulouse!’
A new producer dream team has been created with a collaboration from two of the biggest party electro producers, A-Trak and Dillon Francis. The new single features some of the bounciest synths perfectly prepped for the summer, with enough swag that we wouldn’t be surprised to see remakes from rappers and DJs alike.
Check out the video below from prankster Dillon Francis putting on his best A-Trak impersonation, complete with Burberry scarf, Sharpie beard and colored money from north of the border.
If you aren’t up on your Tyler Sherritt-game, shame on you.
Sherritt is in the class of rising NYC-DJ/producers (along with dBerrie, FareOh and a few others.) He has performed at some of the premiere venues in our area and, globally, has received support from Axwell.
His next, and perhaps biggest performance to date, will be May 24 when he warms up the Pacha NYC crowd for Gregori Klosman. In celebration. Sherritt has released the most acid-y bootleg on the market.
‘Molly Generation’ will gather some ‘ooh/ahh’ attention when heard. A seamless mash up of a couple of the best acid tracks of the last few months will surely be a weapon come show time.

As we previewed a couple of weeks back, Laidback Luke has released his newest rager today exclusively on Beatport through his label, Mixmash Records. Luke has been dropping this banger all over the place, from his set at Ultra to his headlining spot at Anomaly at Terminal 5 last month. Luke brings fellow Dutchman Chuckie along with French popstar darling Martin Solveig for one of the dirtiest house tracks of 2012 thus far.
Luke, who came in 20th in DJ Mag’s top DJ’s of 2011, will be back in New York for Electric Zoo in September, where I’m sure he’ll be dropping this one along with other 2012 releases Speak Up and Trilogy . Most of his summer is booked for shows throughout Europe, with the Zoo being his only East Coast show. See ya then.
Young, fresh talent unites in this Walden remix of Paper Crows’s track ‘Metal Hearts.’ The newest signing to Pete Tong’s FFRR Records, Paper Crows is a British duo who has drawn comparison to a goth version of La Roux. Walden’s spin with their vocals driven track is a hard hitting study in pure electro house, with a driving chorus followed by wobbly acid tinged synths. No word on release yet so stay tuned.

Gargantuan new track from 20-year old Dutch producer Jaz Von D. ‘Drive’ releasing through Spinnin’ Records is simply evil; a melodic build gradually accelerates into a disgusting amount of white noise, bass, and sirens. If you’re looking for some background on Jaz Von D, he’s had a release on Hardwell’s Revealed Recordings titled ‘Reload‘ as well as remix for Swanky Tunes’ Mixmash single ‘Together‘. Now available for download, pick this one up before you start hearing it in the clubs.
Released yesterday, this under-appreciated track will perhaps get its due credit through an array of remixes.
Above all, Laidback Luke’s thinking tops every other effort. It’ll be hard to drop his drum build up-slash-drop. We’ve been waiting for his since Hardwell previewed it last fall on his radio show.
The Tom Staar & Sam Young Remix is a solid electro production and is surely worth a listen. Michael Woods offers up a psy-progressive mix. The final two, Torqux and Violet Oversoul give us a dub step and chill out remix, respectively.
If all else fails, go with Laidback Luke’s.

Coming off his big time collaboration with Tiesto, Joey Youngman aka Wolfgang Gartner is back with his newest release ‘Redline.’ Out on his own label Kindergarten Recordings, this track demonstrates a nice change of pace for the electro-based producer out of LA and is more geared towards melodic chord progressions. Despite the slight change of sound, the track just proves that this guy has a vast arsenal of different sounds and his not afraid to employ each and every one of them.

We like Los Angeles based TheFatRat for the fresh spins that he gives to well known tracks (see his Levels remix) but this is a different sort of tune, an original TheFatRat production mashed with a classic Daft Punk. This clash is successful and new and we also like this style from the German bred electro producer. With a recent live debut in Los Angeles, TheFatRat will travel to Denver May 11 for the Skinny Dip concert series, which this track pays homage to.

Citing baseline inspiration from John Dahlbäck and Laidback Luke, Vancouver bred ImanoS certainly has proven he has good taste in house music. His throbbing electro remix with Faustix of Dragonette – Let It Go brings the original, which can only be described as poppy and radio suitable, straight to the club.
ImanoS has a pretty solid collection of mix tapes, featuring guest mixes from big names such as Nicky Romero. Chances are his is a name that you will be seeing, so represent for the North American producers out there!

The day is here people; Horsepower emerges with their debut remix for Sean Paul’s ‘She Doesn’t Mind’. Horsepower consists of Bart B More, RipTide and Tommie Sunshine whose focus appears to be obliterating speakers. Featuring some of the most dynamic sounds you’ll hear all year, the remix is production gold.

The first official Hyperbits release is a remix of Bombs Away featuring Big Nab: “Ridiculous”. The remix package, which was released on Universal Australia/LNG last week, comes equipped with big tracks from Sgt Slick (who remixed Avicii’s “Malo” in 2010) and Kid Kenobi amongst others, but the stand out in the package is definitely Hyperbits’ offering. A solid blend of in-your-face electro and well structured house music, this remix gets BIG in a hurry.
