Swedish heavyweight John Dahlback recently released his latest EP ‘The Trip’, on Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak Records. The EP features three tracks; ‘The Trip’, ‘China Lake’, and ‘Jackal Mackson’. All three are hard hitting electro tunes that have an underground feel to them. The feature track, ‘The Trip’ combines heavy electro-type bass with a unique jungle sounding groove. This EP is very interesting as JD incorporates a new darker sounding beat. All three tracks are sure to get bodies moving, nonetheless.

Shermanology & R3HAB – Living for the City

By J.Feld on October 29th 2012

The Dutch are damn good at Electro House, and the Sherman family is no exception. Shermanology is a Dirty Dutch trio out of the Netherlands with uncommonly good vocals, who are known for their amazing live vocal mashes. Today they have teamed up with fellow Dutch DJ R3HAB to release ‘Living for the City.’ The track features Dorothy’s vocals over a heavier electro-house beat with solid drops and dance-inducing melodies. The vocals are definitely the highlight of the track, and one can only hope that Shermanology releases an unplugged version of the track, like they did for their last smash with Afrojack, ‘Can’t Stop Me.’

modernvampires e1351292494504 PREVIEW: Bert On Beats Modern Vampires EP
Just in time for the (first) Halloween weekend, we’ve got some new spooky tunes from Estonian newcomer Bert & Beats. Described as “cooler than an icy wind blowing across the Baltic Sea”, the release stays true to the style of New York crew Trouble & Bass with his debut EP “Modern Vampires”. While each track all has a bit of a different flavour, from the echoed vocal sample on the title track, to the brooding flute loop on “Flute Thing”, to the big tropical drums on “Get Your Freak On”, all three feature one thing in common: neck-snapping basslines designed perfectly for the club.

Out on Trouble & Bass on November 6th.

PREVIEW: Dimitri Vegas, Like Mike, Coone & Lil Jon – Madness

By MichelleKUPP (@MichelleKUPP) on October 17th 2012

Known for their anthemic bangers (such as the Tomorrowland songs) Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike are back with hard style producer Coone and Lil Jon to continue smashing the house with their new collaboration ‘Madness.’ The track will be released Nov. 20 on Dim Mak Records and represents a much harder style of production than you may be used to from Dimitri & Mike. Coone has clearly brought his pounding, in your face infusion to the table on this guy. And, of course, Lil Jon covers over with his party heavy lyricism.

Benny Benassi & Pink is Punk – Perfect Storm

By Scammer (@scammertime) on October 16th 2012

Seeing a Benny Benassi release on the charts is something to really look forward to. Not only is it easy to anticipate strong production from a veteran in electronic music, it is truly exciting to see a guy like Benassi maintain presence in a genre where many of the notable up-and-coming producers are less than half his age.

Yes, at age 45, grey beard and all, the Italian is still churning out high-quality dance music, this time with the assistance of Pink is Punk, a Milan duo, last seen on the remix of Benassi’s “Control”. This latest single “Perfect Storm” has some of the steel drum builds we’ve heard from Benassi as of late, as well as some stellar power electro through the middle of the track.

Check out Benassi and Pink is Punk, along with special guests Congorock and Krewella, as they take part on a bus tour across 16 North American cities this Fall.
