Infected Mushroom, comprised of long time pals Erez Eisen and Amit ‘Duvedev’ Duvdevani, is one of those names that just resonates. Everyone has an early memory of what their music meant to them as fans came into their electronic music own. They have a prolific discography, having just produced their eighth studio album ‘Army of Mushrooms’ out May 8 on Dim Mak Records, which shot to #1 on the iTunes Dance Music chart its first day available. Having created music from across the electronic spectrum, with roots in the psy trance movement, ‘Army of Mushrooms’ is a reflection of the impact of today’s relevant dance music on the duo, namely the rise of electro and dubstep. Whether you have fond recollections of ‘Deeply Disturbed’ or Infected Mushroom’s cover of the iconic Israeli song from Barry Sakharof ‘Birthday,’ ‘Army of Mushrooms’ has something for you. Make sure to listen to the whole interview to learn a tasty tidbit about their unannounced NYC show coming in the fall, which will bring their new never before seen live imaging show to the fair city.
Your music evokes memories for so many people – what do you think about being pioneers in the electronic music space?

This may be every singer’s dream – the ability to belt lofty vocals over ethereal electronic music in front of adoring crowds numbering in the thousands. Aussie Emma Hewitt is living this dream, touring the world with trance duo Cosmic Gate punctuated by brief stints in her adopted hometown of Berlin. Clad in an almost sport ensemble of black leggings and a tee, Emma was stunning in both her beauty and modesty about her talent ahead of her live performance with Cosmic Gate at the ASOT 550 tent on the final day of Ultra Music Fest. Joining the team on stage for her eponymous track ‘Colours‘ and ‘Be Your Sound’ Emma dazzled the expectant crowds at the absolutely packed tent. She provided a lovely interlude in a trance packed day. Oh and she also wowed us with her sweetness and affability. Emma for the win!

Willem van Hanegem & Ward van der Harst (W&W) are members of the young class of trance producers that the legendary Armin van Buuren has taken upon himself to nurture and raise to full, electronic maturity. Thank goodness Armin found these young Dutchmen after they began making music together following a fortuitous meeting at a local trance event in 2007. W&W quickly realized that the sum was greater than their individual parts and they have been turning out stellar dance ready tracks ever since. The duo were tapped to produce ‘Invasion,’ the official ASOT 550 anthem, a huge honor celebrating Armin’s 550th A State of Trance radio show. They have a previewed track ‘Shotgun‘ coming out on their new label Mainstage Music, and quite a few impressive collaborations in the pipeline.

For those of you lucky enough to catch the ViVa MUSIC pool party in Miami this past week the name Leon should be very familiar. The Italian future star has been making waves worldwide since his breakthrough in 2009 and has gained the support of the world’s biggest names. Aside from gaining the approval of his peers, Leon has also built quite the release resume. With releases on Cecille Numbers (Nick Curly’s label), ViVa MUSIC (Steve Lawler’s label), Inmotion Music, and many others it is more then apparent there is much to look forward to from the young Italian.
As the world was listening to the ASOT 550 live broadcast from Ultra, EO sat down with some of the artists gracing the decks and stage of the mythical tent throughout the day. First is the energetic and talented Dash Berlin, hailing from The Hague. After three days of non-stop music, Dash Berlin’s pure enthusiasm and genuine charm were a refreshing breath of air and a reminder about why the electronic scene is so amazing. He just announced the title of his new album slated for release April 27, ‘Music Is Life,’ and after chatting with Dash for only a few seconds, it is obvious how he chose to name his album. His musical passion was evident right off the bat and its clear that for him, music truly is life. Listen to his interview and learn that his first experience with dance music came from his older sister and rather than dancing with his friends at clubs he stared straight at the DJ until one day, he asked to join. The rest is history.

Recently EO and Indaba Music teamed up and held an Original Mix competition. With reviewing over 200 submissions and alot of deliberation we chose E.SoX with his original track ‘Soulful Sessions’. For winning the competition he was interviewed. So without further adieu here is E.SoX (after the jump!)
The world shed several tears when legendary production team Gabriel & Dresden parted ways in 2008. Their joyful re-unification in 2010 meant that the electronic community was that much richer, as these genre-bending maestros got back to work. At the end of February Josh and Dave proffered up their first track in 6 years, the dubstep influenced ‘No Reservations‘ created in conjunction with DC based Secret Panda Society, evidence that the team is not willing to float by on their reputation but are rather committed to sending out new hits to their loyal fans.
A great deal of their committed followers made their way to Pacha at the beginning of March to experience the triumphant return of Gabriel & Dresden. A modest way to describe the evening would be to say that the set did not disappoint. In reality, Josh and Dave completely annihilated those in attendance, playing a full three hour set, which is a rarity in this day and age of packed line-ups and easily distracted crowds. If you haven’t been able to see the guys in action, make it a priority. They will be in Miami for WMC next week, along with a stop at Ruby Skye in San Francisco on St. Patrick’s Day. Keep track of all their tour dates on their Facebook. Don’t miss out.
