Get Heard with Indaba Music Contest Winner!

By Tommybomb on May 14th 2012

In March we announced a contest calling all producers and aspiring superstars to submit their original tracks to us through Indaba. The contest went great, with 217 entries. We have to hand it to you basement DJs, most of the tracks were pretty solid, some obviously more so than others. We narrowed it down a few times, and ultimately decided on Double Dust as being our winner!

Congratulations Double Dust, may this be the break through as a successful career as a producer.

Double Dust – Land Of The Sun

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Double Dust submitted the track Land of the Sun, which is a colorful, extremely rhythmic house track. The track can definitely hold a candle to the top-notch European DJs dominating the landscape. The track is a little over 4 minutes, and ebbs and flows like the best of them. Stay tuned for the interview that will be coming soon!

Check Double Dust out on Facebook and at their website.

NEWS: Dirty South & Calvin Harris Announced As Revel Residents

By MichelleKUPP (@MichelleKUPP) on May 10th 2012

Atlantic City is certainly stepping up its game with the opening of Revel, billed as a Las Vegas style resort on the Jersey shore. Today brings the announcement that Dirty South will be a resident at the resort’s HQ Nightclub and Day Club, which follows on the heels of the news from yesterday that Calvin Harris will also have a residency at HQ.

Beyond the nightclub scene, Revel also revealed last week that Avicii would be the first electronic music performer to be on stage at the hotel’s Ovation Hall June 16 – floor seats sold out the same day they went on sale.

The club itself sounds like a great setting, aside from the big time names that are being lined up to perform, sporting 40,000 square feet of space with oceanfront views. Vegas views certainly can’t compete with that. Book your rooms now is our advice.

NEWS: Avicii LE7ELS Tour Cancellations / Rescheduling

By Ambro (@EO_Ambro) on May 9th 2012

AVICII’s LE7ELS Tour start date has been pushed back in order to accommodate changes in the shows production, and these production changes won’t be ready in time for the following shows which have been cancelled:

Cancelled
Reliant Arena in Houston May 17
Fort Worth Convention Center Arena May 18
Uno Lakefront in New Orleans May 20
Gwinnett Center in Duluth June 6

According to Mark Ward of AVICII’s production team “The production is a re-invention of modern technology in an unexplored area of application seeing the 3d mapping is done on an organic surface and mixed in real time. In its complexity we discovered some technical issues at Coachella that could compromise the quality of the experience for the fans which is why we are recommending we move the tour starting date up to a month later.”

Ash Pournouri, At Night Managment, says, “We can not risk anything but a top notch experience for fans and will move the tour start to June 7, pending venue availabilities” The following shows have been rescheduled:

The Sprint Center in Kansas City May 24 is now Sept. 16 at The Midland by AMC
Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis May 24 is now Sept. 15
Target Center in Minneaplois May 26 is now Sept. 7 at the Minneapolis Convention Center
MTS Centre in Winnipeg May 26 is now Sept. 6

Several dates will also be replaced by headliner slots at upcoming festivals which will be
announced in the weeks ahead.

Refunds are available at the point of purchase.

Skrillex will embark upon his Full Flex Express tour, which is a train tour across Canada, with support from Pretty Lights, Diplo, Grimes, Koan Sound, and TokiMonsta. The idea is to recreate a similar train tour that took place over 40 years ago and featured timeless acts such as The Grateful Dead and Janis Joplin. Unfortunately, the tour will make no U.S stops, but you can be sure there will be some highly entertaining YouTube clips that will come from the tour. The tour dates are as follows:

Fri. July 13 – Toronto – Fort York
Sat. July 14 – Ottawa – Ottawa Blues Fest*
Sun. July 15 – Montreal – Parc Jean Drapeau
Wed. July 18 – Winnipeg – Shaw Park

EVENT: Avicii @ Revel’s Ovation Hall 06/16

By Sicarii on May 7th 2012

Swedish House Mafia can keep Madison Square Garden. Avicii will become the latest trailblazing electronic music act as he breaks in Atlantic City resort Revel’s spanking-new Ovation Hall on Saturday, June 16. Aside from Electric Daisy Carnival NY, the event marks the Swedish star’s closest Le7els World Tour date to New York City.

The match is as logical as they come; Revel rhymes with ‘Levels’ and Avicii’s infectious brand of house is a perfect soundtrack for the Atlantic City party crowd. Expect a fist-pump fest and a half. Join the party by purchasing tickets here; they go on sale tomorrow morning at 10 ET.

NEWS: Read All About The Ghost Producers for Tiesto, Sven Vath, Simon Patterson, Loco Dice

By J-Brown (@EO_JBrown) on May 4th 2012

With the recent ascent of dance music, common fans and aficionados alike are digging deeper and sometimes finding out that their favorite “DJ” isn’t actually much of a “producer”. There is an immense difference between the two, although almost all of the big stars are, in some way or another, a combination of both. The picture above is off the legendary Martin Buttrich, a producer who has been in the game for 20 years and has made hits for artists like Loco Dice and Timo Maas. Read about him and other ghost producers HERE on Beatportal’s enlightening series of articles entitled “At The Controls”.
