Keane – Silenced By The Night (Alesso Remix)

By Joey Joey Joey (@JoeyJoeyJoeyy) on May 15th 2012

An unusual soft release last Friday has led to one of the quieter progressive tracks of the year.

Sebastian Ingrosso protege, Alesso enjoyed a successful 2011 but has remained relatively quiet in 2012. Much like Refune Records (who has to be plotting something!) he’s remained in the background besides touring the United States.

While Swedish House Mafia family associates have slowly eaten up the Beatport charts, you wonder ‘Where’s Alesso’ (this is all definitely part of an ellobarate strategy the Swedish House Mafia has made to take over the industry.)

Well, Alesso has arrived. While we wait on ‘Years,’ he gives us something that’s been in the making for quite awhile now. His ‘Silenced By The Night’ remix is more uplifting progressive as opposed to anthem-style (it’s all part of the plan, watch!) With wonderful Keane-vocals a la Elton John, ‘Silence By The Night’ is made into a feel good hit that will be taking over night clubs soon.

Deadmau5 – The Veldt (Project 46 Happy Technology Pancake)

By MichelleKUPP (@MichelleKUPP) on May 10th 2012

There is nothing but love out there for Deadmau5′s newest track ‘The Veldt‘ released Sunday. In an homage to the track countrymen Project 46 have put a big room progressive edit out there for all to enjoy and download. We are feeling this, and it might work better on the dance floor than the Deadmau5 original which, while a thing of beauty, lacks the deep build up of a tune like ‘Strobe’ that just begs you to dance. ‘The Veldt’ is more of an ambient body hugging melody that will make you move but not jump. Coming off #1 Beatport hit ‘Reasons,’ Project 46 is going places, perhaps even NYC…

Avicii – Levels (@@ Remix)

By Joey Joey Joey (@JoeyJoeyJoeyy) on May 10th 2012

Earlier this week, we said that ‘Levels’ won’t die. By that, we meant it is absolutely dead. Here’s the proof.

The one time juggernaut has clearly fallen on hard times. It seems to have become a novelty and sort of inside joke in the dance music world. If it had an ‘E! True Hollywood Story’, this would be the 30-minute mark where shit hits the fan.

Can’t blame @@ (that’s AT-AT) for cashing in. He’s clearly in on the gag. Hopefully this can lead to a following for the truer productions (or maybe more LOL-productions, who knows.)

Though it has been on Soundcloud for a little over two weeks, @@’s mix has gained notoriety over the last 24 hours. Sound your horns and have a listen (and a laugh.)

Avicii – Levels (Henrik B Remix)

By Joey Joey Joey (@JoeyJoeyJoeyy) on May 7th 2012

No matter what happens. ‘Levels.’ Won’t. Die.

That’s why it was No. 1 in 2011.

Henrik B’s version has been a tool of his for a few months now, mind you. He’d have to be late to the party to just be remixing this now.

With the success of the lovely ‘Leave A Light On‘ it looks like Henrik B decided to continue his assent into our ears. And, just wait, he still is holding onto this (NSFW.)

Look out for him in the second half of 2012.

Sander Van Doorn – Nothing Inside

By kcerrato (@kevcerrato) on May 7th 2012

New track from Sander Van Doorn, ‘Nothing Inside’ out today via his Doorn Records imprint. Stellar work featuring vocals from Mayaeni really put together a great piece from the trance giant. It was big in Miami, it’s still big now; great track to have ready for the summer or when you finish that last final.

Morten Breum – Larva

By MichelleKUPP (@MichelleKUPP) on May 7th 2012

Morten Breum, of Danish god status, today released his newest progressive house track ‘Larva’ exclusively on Beatport. Following up on his dubstep collaboration with fellow Danes Pegboard Nerds, ‘Larva’ certainly fits more cozily into the nook of the electro and house that one can normally expect from Breum.

Now a resident of LA, Breum was THE biggest DJ in Denmark prior to his relocation, even playing for the royal wedding of the crown prince of the country. That’s something that most American DJs can’t even dream about. ‘Larva’ is rumored to be the first of 15 tracks that Breum plans to release this year and he is setting the bar high from the get go. A steady, building progressive lead-in kicks up halfway through the tune and doesn’t abate. Don’t waste another second before listening and purchasing what is likely to be Breum’s breakthrough track on the American scene.

Pryda – SW4

By Joey Joey Joey (@JoeyJoeyJoeyy) on May 7th 2012

If you couldn’t tell, the dance music world is waiting in great anticipation for the Eric Prydz album. Seems like Prydz, himself, can’t wait either. He has pulled the carpet from beneath his own album and released ‘SW4,’ one of the albums 37 tracks, today. The rest, of course, are due out May 21 as part of his ‘Pryda’ LP.

In the style of ‘Mokba,’ his alter-ego’s summer 2011 release, he gives us a more subdued version. More deep progressive than electro.

Featured last week on his album sampler, ‘SW4,’ ‘Allein‘ and all the other previews seem to indicate one of the most impressive dance music albums in recent memory.

Gimmick-free progressive.

Zander Bleck – Temptation (The Remixes)

By Ambro (@EO_Ambro) on May 6th 2012

Before we close out the week that was, one last release.

From the man behind Lady Gaga’s music, Red One, we are presented with Zander Bleck. Perhaps the new face of rock n’ roll, perhaps not. Time will tell. His debut single ‘Temptation’ will be clogging up radio’s this summer, so get familiar.

Of course it wouldn’t be 2012 without a remix package for a pop song, though. Those enlisted, respectable names, mind you, did a fantastic job with each of their re-works

Disfunktion has become a much-heralded name in the progressive community of late. With some Eric Prydz-inspired, deep-progressive sounds they give us a tease at something great.

Sick Individuals give, perhaps, the best offering. A miminal-electro melody with pop. A must listen.

The dub step remix (there always has to be a dub step remix) belongs to Hype Jones. The drop is more wobble than dub. Minimal dub step?

Seamus Haji’s take has elements of hard dance/hands up-house. A sound not heard too often these days.

Released last Monday on Interscope Records.

Eric Prydz Presents Pryda (Album Sampler)

By Joey Joey Joey (@JoeyJoeyJoeyy) on May 3rd 2012

The mother load.

It has arrived, kind of.

Here’s the first official sneak peek of the Pryda album. Perhaps the most anticipated album of the year (or ever!?)

Official high quality previews for: ‘SW4,’ ‘You,’ ‘Javlar,’ ‘Agag’ and ‘Leja.’

Out May 21.

PREVIEW: Maison & Dragen – Wet Dreams

By MichelleKUPP (@MichelleKUPP) on May 3rd 2012

Something good must be going on in Finland, as more producers are coming onto our radar from the small Scandanavian country. Influenced by Axwell, Eric Prydz and more, duo Maison & Dragen create progressive house treats that bring you up high and down low with their touchy feely melodies and bold synths. Today we bring you the teaser video for their new single ‘Wet Dreams’ out exclusively on Beatport May 21.

Past hits include ‘Rio de Janeiro’ which had a place on the Beatport Top 10 for weeks and club fave ‘Another Dimension,’ so get ready for ‘Wet Dreams’ to hit the summer dance floor circuit in style.

Tiesto & Mark Knight Feat. Dino – Beautiful World (The Ecstasy Remixes)

By Joey Joey Joey (@JoeyJoeyJoeyy) on May 1st 2012

Released yesterday, this under-appreciated track will perhaps get its due credit through an array of remixes.

Above all, Laidback Luke’s thinking tops every other effort. It’ll be hard to drop his drum build up-slash-drop. We’ve been waiting for his since Hardwell previewed it last fall on his radio show.

The Tom Staar & Sam Young Remix is a solid electro production and is surely worth a listen. Michael Woods offers up a psy-progressive mix. The final two, Torqux and Violet Oversoul give us a dub step and chill out remix, respectively.

If all else fails, go with Laidback Luke’s.

Wolfgang Gartner – Redline

By chz (@chimpanCHZ) on May 1st 2012

Coming off his big time collaboration with Tiesto, Joey Youngman aka Wolfgang Gartner is back with his newest release ‘Redline.’ Out on his own label Kindergarten Recordings, this track demonstrates a nice change of pace for the electro-based producer out of LA and is more geared towards melodic chord progressions. Despite the slight change of sound, the track just proves that this guy has a vast arsenal of different sounds and his not afraid to employ each and every one of them.
