Outstanding mash up. Perhaps, one of the best one’s you’ll ever hear.
Those famous lyrics by The Proclaimers: ‘♫But I would walk 500 miles. And I would walk 500 more. Just to be the man who walked 1000 miles, to fall down at your door♫’
They have finally gotten the house-edit that was long over due.
Enter Austria’s DJ Schmolli. He added the uplifting vocals and instrumental from David Guetta’s summer hit ‘Titanium‘ and a cameo from Midnight Oil’s ‘Beds Are Burning.’
Simply a magnificent creation. Support DJ Schmolli by liking him on Facebook.

Thank you Sidney Samson for this nice little booty of Jennifer Lopez – Papi. The Dutch house maven is the creator of perpetual favorite Riverside (Riversiiiide motherfucker!). This is a very easy and enjoyable listen to a song that has been getting a lot of big room club play. Samson is part of the group of DJs that likes to weave in pop and hip hop hits to his sets, making for a pleasing and diversified experience. Hit it up!

Happy Monday! Earlier Nicky Romero indicated that his remix with David Guetta of Flo Rida – Wild Ones would be released Jan. 30 and then just a few minutes ago he uploaded a preview to his Soundcloud. Looks like the track has been re-created from the original title, but this is definitely the remix that the duo have been dropping for some time now in their live sets. Guetta is a big supporter of Nicky so keep on the watch for more collaborations coming up in 2012 (insider info!)

EO favorite, 3LAU may have been a little quiet lately. That’s probably because he was working on these multilayer mash ups.
2011, in the mash up community, may have belonged to 3LAU (close competition would be Jacob Van Hage and Tristan Garner.) In 2012, he looks to be the undisputed king of mash ups. This would be a good start.
‘We Found House,’ and it’s remixes, are an epic collaboration of dance musics most popular songs. Similar to the year end top of the pops, but actually good.
The first, the progressive bootleg, combines Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman’s remix of ‘Reach For Me‘ with Coldplay’s ‘Every Tear Drop Is A Waterfall’ and Rihanna’s ‘We Found Love.’ Definitely radio ready.
The second, the big room bootleg, is lead by Basto’s ‘Again & Again‘ along with Rihanna’s vocals. It’s more of a vocal edit to Basto’s track, but a clever one at that.
The third, the moderntalking bootleg, is a jumble of hard electro. Knife Party’s ‘Internet Friends‘ leads into Nicky Romero’s ‘Toulouse‘ with acapellas from, again, Rihanna and, now, LMFAO’s ‘Sexy And I Know It.’ The absolute highlight of this package is at 4:08, when the infamous ‘You blocked me on Facebook and now you’re going to die’ breaks into, well, you’ll see.

In what may come to be known as the week of the remixes, today a monster 10 versions of Lady Gaga – Marry The Night were released on iTunes via Interscope Records. This package definitely shows the increased collaboration popping up between mainstream pop artists such as Gaga and EDM stars. No longer is it just David Guetta working in the pop world, but increasingly names like Afrojack and Calvin Harris. Here we see an even more diverse blend cast of characters releasing remixes that mainstream fans might not recognize, but will surely come to love.

Sexy/chill.
Lana Del Rey has the sexy covered. Grandtheft will handle the chill.
Del Rey is definitely one of the breakout American singers this year. Her Born To Die album is set for release in early 2012 and it’s premiere track ‘Video Games‘ has enjoyed much success.
Too many tracks are labeled as ‘chill’ these days. From ‘chill’ dub step to deep house. The word is blurted out quite often, like it’s a curse word or something. This Grandtheft free download is, undoubtedly, chill.
The Hyperbits are back with two Top 40-inspired mash ups. But, no they haven’t sold out. They’ve just done what many people see as impossible: Making a Pink & Ke$ha song good.
‘We don’t like pop music and find it pathetic that a track like Ke$ha’s ‘Tik-Tok’ actually sold more copies than any Beatles single. But, sometimes, you can’t ignore something that works really well,’ the duo said.
And works it does!
‘We R Who We Shave’ is certainty iTunes worthy. From the 1-minute mark on, when Zedd’s ‘Shave It‘ bleeps up on us, Ke$ha’s vocals go from pop-dance to electro house. It’s a refreshing feeling when are suspicions are confirmed after the first drop. Yep, it’s a banger!
‘Raise Your Glass The Way It Was,’ is the better of the two tracks from a live-DJ perspective. The subtle drop won’t make you jump, because it isn’t supposed to. It’s supposed to make you dance. And dance you shall.

Go to your favorite dance music website and type in ‘Whitney Houston.’ Not too many of them will be yielding results.
That is, unless, EO is your favorite dance music website (which it should be!) Rest assure, we will take care of any Whitney Houston needs you may have.
This unofficial remix by VanHooft & Forever Kid is lethal. The Alesso-inspired stuttering sound works to perfection, as it has for many producers this year. Houston’s voice with an EDM twist works out quite well too.
Not too much information on VanHooft or Forever Kid is available, but based on VanHooft’s Soundcloud he is from Sweden and looks to be in the early stages of gathering a following. Same goes for Forever Kid, but he is LA-based. Be sure to follow them on Soundcloud and support the rising artists!

The second remix offering from Hyperbits comes in the form of tasteful and (even more) club friendly version of Dirty Souths anthem ‘Alive’. The first remix they did of Tiesto’s ‘Work Hard, Play Hard’ was pretty big and built up some buzz around it, but this one is just massive and made for the big room. Serik and Rob are able to mix Dada Life-esque side-chained bass, euphoric stabs, a truly epic chord progression, and stuttered vocal samples to form a remix that will no doubt be a contender in the competition. For more on Hyperbits, follow them on Facebook and Twitter.

Trouse is something that most (including myself) are still very unfamiliar with. Robert Palliser on the other hand, is a trouse master and can best describe what it truly entails. Check out how he defines the genre and his latest mix, In The Trouse!
“Trouse is a new genre that has spawned from combining elements of big-room house music with trance overtones. Producers and DJ’s like Tiesto, Sander van Doorn, Hardwell and Marcus Schossow have been able to cultivate the Trouse sound by seamlessly blending characteristics of both genres. Trouse is a product of the overwhelming mainstream appeal of house music coupled with many still wanting to remain loyal to trance, a genre that defined early EDM culture.
I attempt to sift through the best Trouse over the last month and showcase some of the artists that have recently shaped my sound. The mix begins with the techier side of Fedde Le Grand with his ‘Paradise’ remix, to Hardwell’s anthem ‘Cobra’, and eventually ends with Jacob van Hage’s progressive monster ‘Convoi’. Each month, my ‘In The Trouse’ mixes will include the tracks that are defining this relatively new genre, along with some deeper productions that are influencing my productions at the moment.”
