Believe it or not, Electric Zoo 2013 is only 3 weeks away! Until that fateful day comes, we’ll be taking a look at what each stage has to offer on each day of New York’s top EDM festival. This in depth coverage will have you primed and ready to navigate the zoo that Randall’s Island becomes for 3 days each summer.
Electric Zoo is now celebrating its 5 year anniversary of being New York’s biggest party to close out the summer and Randall’s Island Park has played host to for each year in existence. The island is located along the East River nestled between Manhattan, Queens and the Bronx. The grass (let’s hope not to be turned into a dust or mud field) event space sits at the top of the park and spans a accommodating 24 acres which will now feature 5 stages with the addition of two Main Stages. (See Map below)
The formula is simple, gates open at 11 AM each day and the show ends at 11 PM each day. Rain or Shine.
Transportation to the festival remains the same as last year. Each pass comes with round trip ferry or bus service.
The Ferry– Ferries will be running to and from Randall’s Island throughout the day all weekend. Departures leave from East 35th Street Ferry Landing located at the intersection of East 35th Street at FDR Drive. Service should be running every 15 minutes or so.
Shuttle Buses– Shuttles, like the ferries, will run throughout the day to and from Randall’s Island all weekend. Pick up and drop off will be at East 124th St in Manhattan between Madison Ave and Park Ave.
Subway– A great alternative, especially at night when there is a mad rush to board buses and ferries at the same time or if you and your friends don’t have the same method of transport, is to just take the subway uptown. Hop on the 4,5,6 line to 125th street and take the 15 minute walk east over the bridge and you’ll be right at the festivities.
Plan out where to meet people and check out the new Main Stage Tent Area. (Here)
After Parties– For those who survive the daily ragefests, official after parties will be hosted at the Best Buy Theater and Roseland Ballroom on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. We will highlight all these parties in the upcoming weeks! Make sure to

Who You’ll See
Who You Can’t Miss
Above & Beyond – The British trance trio (Jono Grant, Tony McGuinness and Paavo Siljamäki) have been in the game since you were probably still in elementary school and they have honed their craft. Above & Beyond is in the highest level of the house community and arguably the Godfathers of the trance family (hash tag trance family). They’re world renowned for the uplifting, melodic vocal, 128 bpm and above style that is heard around the world weekly on their Group Therapy radio show. We guarantee some of the best music and most memorable moments of the weekend will be heard when the trio takes to the Main Stage.

Audien – Nate Rathburn has quickly become a house hold name and was named Vibe Magazine’s 25 best DJs under 25, and apart of the rising class of Young American DJ’s (along with Pierce Fulton and Porter Robinson).

Under the Radar Artist
Dannic – Hailing from Breda, hometown of Tiësto and Hardwell, Dannic (Formerly, Funkadelic) is the next big name DJ to come from the lauded stable of Dutch DJ’s. With tracks such as ‘Viper,’ ‘Doster,’ and ‘Flare‘ he recently released his latest single ‘Ignite‘ which is exactly what the crowd will be doing when he takes to the EZoo (Does anyone remember when were calling it ‘EZF’? No? OK moving on) Main Stage.

Who You Can Pass On
Main Stage East – We recommend waiting until Saturday to venture over to the newest addition to the Ezoo grounds. Stayed tuned for our thoughts on who else to check out on Friday and next week for who to check out on Saturday at the Main Stage East.
