IN FOR THE WIN.
This Sunday, Knife Party is taking over Manhattan. What was originally supposed to be the Christening of the new Brooklyn Terminal Project, the venue changed this week to the wonderful Beekman Beer Gardens by the South Street Seaport. While it would’ve definitely been awesome to rage in a freshly minted venue that promised to bring tons of EDM throughout the summer, the South Street Seaport is still a wonderful part of Manhattan that offers stunning views of Brooklyn and the Brooklyn Bridge.
If the weather holds up, this promises to be one of the highlights of the summertime. Knife Party, the side project of what is probably the biggest Drum N Bass band in the world in Pendulum, came somewhat out of nowhere in December with their ultra-rager eargasm Internet Friends. It was released on the %100 No Modern Talking EP, which caught on like a bad and addictive case of head lice. I specifically remember hearing that EP back in January, and Knife Party was starting to catch some serious murmurs in the EDM community, and all I can think was that these guys might be the next Skrillex. 5 months later, they haven’t catapulted into stardom yet, but they just keep on rising, climbing, almost naturally and obviously, and they were supposed to be the first show ever at the Brooklyn Terminal Project. Last week they released their 2nd EP, Rage Valley, and as of now it’s the #1 album on Beatport. As with all of Pendulum and Knife Party’s work, it is filled with immaculate production and an intoxicating good time.
It wouldn’t surprise us if Knife Party on Sunday is, along with the July 15th Day Glow in NYC (stay tuned for lineup and ticket announcements!),one of the top events in New York City until Electric Zoo. Unfortunately, it went a bit under the radar, but during Miami Music Week and Ultra Music Festival weekend, Knife Party headlined a HARD NYC event with Kill The Noise and Jack Beats. Reports everywhere had it that Knife Party literally (ok fine, not literally) tore the roof off of Terminal 5 that night. If the sun holds up, you don’t want to miss Knife Party throw down on Sunday.
