One thing you can say about the Swedish House Mafia crew, the experienced trio is very passionate and committed to nurturing rising new talent. In a cutthroat industry, this mentorship can make the difference between success and failure. Sebastian Ingrosso has done beyond an amazing job with leading protege Alesso down the correct path – straight to the DJ booth.

Otto Knows is the next Swede that Ingrosso is taking under his wing. Today Refune Records released ‘Million Voices.’He included the track on the inaugural edition of his record label’s Refune Radio , posing it as a track that is energetic, but is also the perfect track to calm down to – like a lemon intermezzo at a bar mitzvah.

Although Otto Knows is relatively new to the scene, he started off 2012 right, sharing a stage with Tiësto and Gareth Emery at the Pacific Coliseum on NYE. With gigs like that, Otto Knows must be doing something right. Another name to watch going forward – not just because of his strong support group but also due to the strength of his freshman production.

Thank you Walden for being awesome and releasing you Mario Mix before getting 800 likes – here’s to gaining a few (hundred) more from this bady boy. Walden’s newest track boasts a remarkably well-developed sound, that starts off with deamau5-esque tones, transitions into the highly recognizable theme and works its way into bouncy electronic tones. This is a fun, light-hearted production that anyone who grew up in the 90s will obviously appreciate. Makes you want to run straight out and buy a vintage Nintendo. Adios!

Ken opened for resident DJ Kaskade last weekend at Marquee in Las Vegas, and in the past few months has taken on opening duties during Tiësto’s constant touring. Also, Tiësto named him Breakthrough DJ/Producer of 2011 on his DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJ poll.

Feb. 21 Ken is releasing his new EP on Big Beat Records, of which he was kind enough to create a sampler mix of the six tracks. It’s like a pu-pu platter of electro – delectable! Thus whet your appetite for the real thing with the stream below. Yummmmm!

So, you’re not in touch with the trance community?

Your iTunes is dominated with Swedish anthems, wobbly electro, dub step or all of thee above.

Trance Nation mixed by Cosmic Gate might be your starter kit to enter to the exclusive society that is the trance family.

Not just relevant for trance fans, but relevant for any house music lover. It’s difficult to find a good CD (let alone a physical, tangible CD) these days, but Trance Nation is more than good, it’s fantastic. It’s filled to the brim with some of the best and most creative dance music heard in many moons.

Cosmic Gate’s mix is the latest in the legendary series that is Trance Nation. Previous mixers include trance title holders Above & Beyond, Andy Moor and Rank 1.

The genre of trance is a mysterious one. It used to be, either you like it or don’t. Now there’s wiggle room. There is a progressive and electro feel to some tracks. There is festival-qualities to others. Some songs might even sneak into sets of DJs outside the genre.

The trance world’s fearless leader may have abandoned the genre, but to be apart of the trance community now is to be apart apart of the progressive community in 2007. The music is at it’s highest quality, arguably, ever. Far away from the thumping, million beats per minute era casual fans might associate it with.

Trance Nation is a splendid starting point for beginners and a snobby talking point for vets. Some tracks were more relevant during the late fall and early winter, but Cosmic Gate’s selection isn’t with out it’s exclusives.

It isn’t without it’s flaws either. The mixing is not the best in the beginning part of the first CD. It could be chalked up to it being separate tracks on a CD or it could be just a complete difference of how music is mixed compared to progressive sets. It does pick up, especially in the second CD, but the ill-fated blends do stand out.

The track selection is excellent. Some will not have cross-over appeal, but entry into the trance family isn’t made to be easy. You have to earn these drops. After thoroughly listening you might have new respect for some of the deeper trance that Cosmic Gate mixed in. You’ll almost certainty have respect for the landscapes built within each production.

Overall, the album is a success. A house fan who has gone trance-less in his or her journey could take away upward of 10 tracks from this two-disc compilation. A member of the trance family could salute the brick by brick composition Cosmic Gate built up over 28 tracks and nod approval of the latest installment of the legendary series.

Trance might not be all the rage. It might be in the shadows of the Swedish dance music towers, but is relevant and crying to be discovered by new listeners. This is your chance.

Ever since his tag team effort with Marco Lys to bring us ‘Violins‘ and his stellar collaboration with Michael Woods that let us hear the sounds of ‘Domino’s,’ we have all appreciated the deep driving progressive house sounds that Chris Lake has produced. Today Chris Lake released his newest track on Ultra Records titled ‘Build Up,’ which features a nice mix of some progressive house, heavy grinding electro, and most importantly, vocals from his wife! Gita Lake! Cool stuff.

Released in the package as well is an edit by Tommy Trash, who creates a remix that is similar to everything else this guy gets his hands on. The original song plus that extra dirty trash noise which gives the song that little ‘something else.’

Once again, Santos Party House was packed to capacity Saturday night for its weekly Electric Beach party. The series has been regularly pulling some of the biggest names in electronic music, including Lazy Rich, Fareoh, and dBerrie (and soon to bring in Funk Farm king, Funkagenda!) since its inception last year. Santos is deservedly becoming a destination for electronic fans looking to revel in an environment that is not overwhelmingly crowded – a characteristic that is quickly becoming a facet of some other larger venues in NYC. The advantage of seeing a DJ at Santos is that Electric Beach so effectively leverages the intimate feel that a small space provides, similar to a place like Lavo, but at laymen’s prices. The DJ booth is situated front and center, giving attendees the feeling that they are partying with the DJ, not simply dancing to him. Bottom line is, for those who want to enjoy amazing music at a premier spot and party without a hassle, Electric Beach is the place to be on your Saturday nights.

More on the night after the jump!

Electronica Oasis was on hand for the Feb. 4 edition of the party, boasting a very special headliner, Italian tech house maestro Alex Kenji as he made his NYC debut. First up though was New York based up and comer John Hamilton, who has quickly made a name for himself by providing tasteful and well-mixed opening sets. He is no stranger to the Electric Beach party, and made that quite evident. Hamilton is quickly branching outside of his NYC comfort zone – Friday Feb. 10 he will be at Colgate University and a week later he leaves for Europe to spin at hot spots in London and Paris, including Chinawhite in London.

All of us were lucky enough to catch his set in its entirety. John managed to both set the stage perfectly for Kenji by playing epic and floor-filling tunes, and end the night with big room hits. He slammed tracks like Michael Calfan – Resurrection (Axwell’s Recut Club Version), Dada Life – Happy Violence (Vocal Extended Mix) , and Eric Prydz – 2Night (Original Mix). His song selection was well-received, and we will certainly be hearing more from this young talent. If you want a taste of what a typical set from this rising youngster sounds like, check out his brand new Panther mix!

John Hamilton – Panther

Now on to the headliner! Although it’s hard to believe that such a truly prolific producer never before touched a deck in the city, Kenji more than made up for it during his 2 hour set, which spanned from classic Kenji, such as ‘Get Funky,’ and his anthemic ‘Pressure‘ alongside Nadia Ali and Starkillers, to more progressive big room tracks like his new missile, Disco Fries feat. Niles Mason – Born To Fly (Alex Kenji remix). This unreleased track was perhaps the biggest of the night. You may remember Niles Mason’s infectious voice from Afrojack and David Guetta’s first collaborative piece of work, ‘Louder Than Words’. Kenji also played his new Spinnin’ release, ‘Chasing Clouds‘ which sounded unbelievable on Santos stellar system.

Alex Kenji, Starkillers, & Nadia Ali – Pressure (Original Mix)

Kenji had all of the people at Santos getting down for the entirety of his set. The reason it was impressive was due to the fact that he was able to seamlessly switch between bouncey tech house and epic-synth laden big room anthems. With feedback from experienced beat seekers to newbies alike, spot reactions from Kenji’s inaugural performance in New York all included rave reviews. We can only hope he comes back soon, and all of us at EO are hoping that we get to see him play back to back with his partner in crime, Manuel De La Mare.

It seems like native New Yorker Jesse Marco has already lived a lifetime in DJ years. Getting his start as a DJ to the stars, Marco has routinely spun at both a plethora of private events and across the spectrum of clubs from London to LA. Now Marco is turning to production and movie cameos to round out his already booming career.

Today Big Beat Records released Marco’s take on the classic Boney M track Daddy Cool, which harkens back to the days of disco (hey mom & dad!) but in an awesome, can I have your vintage bell-bottoms sort of way. It’s a very cool track, reminiscent of a Duck Sauce tune. This is certainly a funky, groovy edit that will make its way to dance floors far and wide.

As if that weren’t enough, Marco is embarking on a multi-city tour in conjunction with Vice and the upcoming Warner Brothers movie Project X, in which Marco plays the DJ for the party that is at the heart of the film. Following screenings of the film, dates and locations for which can be found here, Marco will perform with MGK and TYGA at different points.
It’s always a treat to see a remix package drop months after the fact, it can help you rediscover (or discover) the original mix. Gregori Klosman, Feenixpawl and Pixel Cheese were pegged as the headliners to revive this track and each one’s vision certainty made ‘Room For Happiness’ relevant again.

With the massive success of ‘In My Mind,’ Feenixpawl’s remix might stand out most as we look for either a sophomore slump or ascending stock. The Australian duo did not disappoint in its remix. It is arguably the best of the package. Big-room ready and legions of big name DJs will most likely support it.

Klosman’s remix continues the electro theme he has given us in his last few releases. Some will prefer it most of all because it strays away from the progressive house that has dominated most of today’s mainstream EDM landscape. The drop in Klosman’s remix is half Zedd, half Tommy Trash.

Poland’s Pixel Cheese, who has been rising through the ranks, gives us a thumping version. More arena than big room. His remix might be a favorite of those who prefer alternative progressive productions. He uses the Grey vocal best of all.

Also included in this remix package are PIXL, winner of the ‘Raining’ remix competition and New York’s Mysto & Pizzi.

Out today on Ultra Records, check out all the versions and decide which one stand out most.

Bounce Music Festival features a wide variety of electronic music artists over the entire month of March 2012. Delving into a lot of dance music subgenres, it’s refreshing to see certain artists that you might not find on an ordinary club night; all featured in one festival. Spring break and great weather is always a plus and there’s no reason why this won’t be a widely talked about event for people to check out while on vacation in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

The first stage of the line up consists Paul Oakenfold, Savoy, Morgan Page, Arty, Tim Mason, Bingo Players, Swanky Tunes, David Puentez, David Berrie, David Dann, The Chainsmokers, and Jus Jack. Starting on February 24th all the way through April 1st, various DJs will be playing selected weeks throughout the core of spring break.

Head over to their website here for tickets and trip info. Having booked major artists like Avicii in past events, it’s apparent Bounce is looking to take their concerts to the next level. After the jump check out our Q&A with co-founders Brandon Silverstein and Jared Lyons to learn what they’ve got planned for future promotional efforts.

_

ElectronicaOasis: Lets start off with some basic info, what is Bounce Music Festival? Who is behind it? Have you guys always had an interest in EDM?

Brandon: Bounce Music Festival is an international touring music festival that creates a unique music experience for fans and we are the guys behind it. We have always had an interest in EDM, but recently we have been non-stop listening to EDM. Part of our job is staying in tune with the music. You have to do your homework. I always catch myself saying, who will be the next Avicii? This era of EDM is so new to the world, it’s amazing to be apart of the growth.

Jared: We are not just your average concert that you may go and see. We bring in side acts and incorporate ideas no one has yet to think about to create the ultimate concert experience. In terms of EDM, it’s what I live for. People think I’m crazy when I tell them I fall asleep to EDM during flights.

ElectronicaOasis: Who runs Bounce Music Festival? How did you guys come about working together? How long have you been planning events?

Brandon: Who Runs Bounce? Well, Jared and I are the co-founders. I’d say we have a team of 8 people who work with us. As for planning events we have been partners since we were 16. We used to throw events in New York when we were in High School and we ran a nightclub in the Hamptons for 2 summers.

Jared: Yeah, our first event was on 39th street and we had 900 people show up. Now, 5 years later we are doing shows with thousands of people. It’s kind of crazy looking back. We didn’t just wake up one day and say we want to create a touring music festival.

ElectronicaOasis: What inspired you guys to pursue this particular project?

Jared: It all started when we had an opportunity to work on a college concert as freshman. Then we thought, why not do it ourselves in a way that no one has seen before. It was all up hill from there.

Brandon: Nightlife got played out for me. This is on another level. The energy is magnified and it’s somewhat addicting to be involved in.

ElectronicaOasis: Your thirty day music festival takes place in Puerta Vallerta, Mexico. Have you been there before? What made you pick this location?

Jared: We’ve teamed up with Xtreme Trips, the largest college spring break company. They handle all the boring aspects of the trip: hotels and flights for college kids and we handle the experience.

Brandon: Yeah, Xtreme gave us 30 nights, 30 venues, and said do what you want with it. So we did it. Festival packages are almost sold out. Over 1600 packages sold within 3 days of announcing our Phase 1 artists.

ElectronicaOasis: Both the line up and the venues present a complete entertainment experience, is this the first time you’ve done an all-inclusive travel + vacation + entertainment package?

Brandon: Yeah this is the first time.

Jared: This is the first time were bringing Bounce out of the country but definitely expect to see more of it in the near future.

ElectronicaOasis: A lot of the artists playing at Bounce Music Festival have very distinct sound and/or genre; How did you guys decide on some of the artists performing? What sets can we find you guys at during the festival?

Jared: If you’re an EDM fanatic like myself, you absolutely have got to love our lineup. Instead of taking your standard lineup of mainstream DJs and creating a festival out of it, we went out and pulled some of the best upcoming and veteran EDM artists out there.

Brandon: Agreed. Look out for Bingo Players, Arty, and Swanky Tunes and a few more that we haven’t announced yet. They are EDM’s future. We built our bill off of what college kids want. When you are at a pregame you don’t run over to the laptop or iPod that’s plugged into the speaker and put on something that’s mainstream or played out. Tracks that we hear at pregames are something like Rattle by Bingo Players or Sending my Love by Swanky Tunes.

ElectronicaOasis: You’ve already had popular performers like Avicii headline your festivals, any artists you’re looking forward to working with in the future?

Brandon: There are a lot. We have been in contact with the biggest names in the industry, but as I mentioned before, it’s the new artists we haven’t even heard about yet that excite me.

Jared: Yes. The entire industry
