Identity Festival

I have heard so many good things about this festival over the past few weeks that I deemed it necessary to do a post about it. The Identity Festival will be the first ever touring all-electronic music festival, and has already built up some serious hype. The festival is occurring from August 11th all the way through September 10th. It is a 1 day event and tickets range from $35-$40 and go on sale in 3 days. On August 21st 2011, the festival will come through Jones Beach in Wantagh, NY. This is a very odd venue for a dance music festival, as it is a seated venue. I have personally seen many shows there, ranging from Nine Inch Nails to Phish. I cannot see it working out so well for this type of event, but we will see! I will be attending and I am super stoked to see Erol Alkan, Nervo and Bookashade. Some artists are only on select dates so hopefully I can catch those 3! Also, for all you true house-heads out there, please don’t forget to buy your Electric Zoo tickets and your Deadmau5 tickets for when he comes through Roseland!

The IDentity festival is a world within itself with plenty to look at, do, hear and see.

In the heartbeat of it all is the Skullcandy Amphitheater Stage. This sensory extravaganza features unparalleled production and is headlined by international house hero, Kaskade. An incomparable lineup of the hottest names in electronic music will take turns joining Kaskade for the evening including Pretty Lights, Disco Biscuits, Rusko, Avicii, Chuckie, Booka Shade, Pete Tong, Modeselektor, Jessie and the Toy Boys with special guests still being announced.

The Dim Mak Festival Stage, a wide open outer festival area, complements the size, production and lineup of the Skullcandy Amphitheater Stage. The Dim Mak Festival Stage is headlined by none other than Dim Mak’s commander-in-chief, Steve Aoki. By his side is a superstar mix and match of DJ Shadow, Etienne De Crecy, The Crystal Method, Nero, Holy Ghost!, Datsik, Hercules and the Love Affair, Le Castle Vania, The Eye and Doorly with special guests still hopping on.

In addition to the Dim Mak Festival Stage, there will also be the Beatport Stage featuring an amazing mix of underground DJs Steve Lawler, Manufactured Superstars, White Shadow, LA Riots, Aeroplane, Nervo, Chad Hugo, Marshall Barnes and The Eye.

The festival area itself is a huge, open and exciting space with plenty of room for relaxing, mingling, eating, drinking and of course dancing.

Art installations and creative hands-on experiences are in the works – plenty that will keep you cool in the hot summer heat and heat you up under the cool summer stars.

I really have a horrible feeling about it being in a seated amphitheater. They should just do it on the beach :p
