Markus Schulz – Buenos Aires ’13

Markus Schulz has become one of the biggest trance DJs in the world and every year, well at least the last two years, he has released a mix dedicated to a specific city he connects with that year. First there was ‘Prague ’11’ then ‘Los Angles ’12’ and this year Schulz takes us on a journey with him to Buenos Aires, the capital city of Argentina, where dance music has taken off the last few years, even hosting their own Ultra Music Festival this past year in February where Markus drew huge crowds. Schulz has had many instances where he has had a chance to connect with the people of Buenos Aires. It was made clear in June that Buenos Aires would be the city he chose this year after he sold out two shows at Mandarine nightclub, one of the hottest clubs in the world, where Schulz didn’t just play a regular set, but put on one of his marathon sets that lasted over 14 hours.

Trance isn’t just another genre of dance music, it almost has a mind of its own. It captures your focus and takes you on a journey through the entire night, like a movie you’re waiting to unfold, except your part of the movie, which is one of the best features. Markus Schulz is becoming known as the marathon man not just in the world of trance but in the world of electronic music also, with him playing sets that last over 14 hours not only at some of the top clubs in the world but at some of the top festivals in the world as well. Based out of Miami, Schulz is well known for his beautiful trance music but he has also become a trance DJ everyone knows, even people who aren’t that interested in trance themselves, which tells you something about how Markus’s music stands out. European trance is world renowned, some people say that’s where it all started, but Schulz is bringing back something from the old school and that’s his almost day-lasting sets. It gives people a chance to see something and journey into a place they haven’t been and that’s something that he is becoming well known for.

So now that Markus Schulz’s first two city mixes were well received, he’s onto the next one with this two disc mix featuring Beunos Aires. This caliber track list is sure to be well known and well liked by everyone who has a listen. Markus Schulz has packed this album with many great tracks and exclusives from many Coldharbour favorites such as established producers Rex Mundi and Arnej to new artists like KhoMha and Omnia. Coldharbour Recordings is a label that Markus Schulz started in 2005 which highlights the dark, deep and moody sounds that people have come to know from some of Schulz’s alias’. Markus has a tradition where he develops a new alias for his city features and he has continued this tradition in ‘Buenos Aires’ with his alias ‘Marscela’ who is responsible for the first track on disc one and the last track on disc two. Markus Schulz is set to tour later this year with Ferry Corsten as New World Punx and is also set to release his artist album ‘Scream 2’ in 2014, so keep an eye out for many new projects from Schulz but for now enjoy the new release of ‘Buenos Aires ’13’
