Adrian Lux Feat. Lune – Fire

For a little over a year, the world has been waiting for ‘Fire.’ House music know-it-alls will remember that Adrian Lux & Lune were the duo behind the 2010 juggernaut ‘Teenage Crime.’ They look to strike international success again with this vocal-laden, indie anthem.

Lune has to be one of the most underrated vocalists in the world, in terms of name recognition. Other than Lux, Sebastian Ingrosso has supported her talents, but she still lacks the attention that others get. ‘Fire’ adds to her resume of making good songs great.

Lux’s instrumental is indie-inspired but has that touch of Sweden that is all the rage in the progressive world.

In other ‘Fire-’ related news, the remix package for it will be out on Feb. 21. It will include remix’s from R3hab, Jeremy Olander, Style of Eye and Mikael Weermets. All of this in preparation for Lux’s debut album which will drop on Ultra Records on March 7.

Skrillex – Breakn’ A Sweat (Zedd Remix)

If you haven’t heard about the uber-cool new documentary Re:Generation, you’ve clearly been living in an electronic music dark place. The official video for the original Skrillex version can be viewed here, and is a short preview of what the full documentary will look like. A first wave of screenings occurred Feb. 16, with the second coming this Monday, Feb. 23. Tickets are available here.

To sum the documentary up in short, Mark Ronson, DJ Premier, The Crystal Method, Pretty Lights and Skrillex team up with musicians from outside their musical realm to produce 5 amazing new tracks, which can be downloaded here, including remixes like Zedd’s. Via a preview of the film back in October, expectations are high because even the very short version looked extra dope. Today’s Big Beat Records release is a Zedd remix of the Skrillex collaboration with members of the iconic rock group The Doors. It’s a very nifty edit, full of young Zedd’s hard electro riffs, surely influenced by his German techno predecessors. Get a copy and check out more about the film!

Another day, another Sebastian Ingrosso & Alesso – Calling vocal edit preview? That accountability is far from solidified, but at least listeners can catch another snippet of the edit, as everyone eagerly awaits the full, still to be determined date-wise, release. What’s the electronic music version of blue balls? Methinks’ its Calling (Lose My Mind). Enjoy!

The 8th Era – Vanguard / Canon Ball EP (FREE DOWNLOAD)

Tom Amegadzie aka The 8th Era is a Columbia graduate and East Village resident who is infatuated with a very “nichey” and abstract genre of electro. He draws influence from artists like Surkin, Para One, Bart B More, Brodinski, Keith & Supabeatz, Noob, and TAI. These are not household names, but rather producers who have refined their craft and garnered a loyal and musically intelligent fan base. The influences from the aforementioned artists shines in his first official EP, Vanguard / Canon Ball. Diligently working on these two tracks for the past 2 months, Tom has done something that not many young producers are doing: first and foremost he has created 2 ORIGINAL tunes (no remixes/bootlegs/edits) , and secondly, he has transcended genres to the point that it is nearly impossible to categorize either. Tom is no stranger to remixes, (his Deadmau5 ‘Some Chords remix has gotten almost 5,000 plays) but these productions are more impressive.

‘Vanguard’ is a spacey and minimal electro-house tune. The track is certainly not your standard A side on a two track EP, but that was the artists intent. This is 4 am club music, with extremely creepy yet simultaneously catchy samples and fantastic sub bass. Canon Ball is a “lovestep” track that feels like something Optimus Prime would listen to if he was having sex with a hot female transformer. Weird, well-produced, and refreshing, the B side provides a great soundtrack to end your night with. These are both available for free download, so take a listen to some unique dance music, and follow The 8th Era on twitter!

Foster The People – Don’t Stop (dBerrie Remix)

Keeping with the indie-theme he begun last week with his remix of Goyte’s ‘Somebody That I Used To Know,’ David Barrie dBerrie now gives us crossover-gold with his latest indie interpretation.

A staple in his sets since the late fall, ‘Don’t Stop’ combines the signature dBerrie piano keys with the ever popular vocals of Mark Foster.

The inescapable ‘Pumped Up Kicks‘ has been remixed to death and it’s refreshing to see a new Foster’s song come about (‘Helena Beat‘ remix, anyone?)

dBerrie is having a productive start to the new year and with more music on the horizon, he might be making major advances within the industry by year’s end.

PREVIEW: Bingo Players – Cry (Just A Little) (Angger Dimas Refunk)

PREVIEW: Bingo Players - Cry (Just A Little) (Angger Dimas Refunk)

Angger Dimas, the Indonesian superstar is notable for his massive, bass heavy sounds. His most recent track, ‘RIA‘ co-produced with Bassjackers defines his musical style… or does it?

Angger dropped a Bingo Players, ‘Cry (Just A Little)’ refunk on his soundcloud a few hours ago and expecting it to have some crazy electro synths or a massive drop, it didn’t whatsoever. Angger completely shocked everyone with this remix sounding as if it came from a DJ’s vinyl record collection during a 1986 high school prom. It definitely was an interesting route to take for Angger, expressing his fantastic musical diversity. Rather than drowning it with bleeps and bloops, Angger focuses mainly on the beauty of the vocals. It sounds great and was well created from a production standpoint. Angger does not cease to amaze his audience with surprises and putting his remixes on a pedestal way above the originals. All hail Angger!

NEWS: Carl Cox, Inventor of Dubstep?

Techno and house DJ Carl Cox recently said in an interview with Time Out London that he, “was playing dubstep three years before anyone even decided to call it dubstep, but [he] never got known for playing that style. [He doesn't] mind the now generation being seen as the pioneers, but there had to be a Carl Cox pushing the doors open for these guys.”

The statement has been causing a pretty huge stir within the dubstep scene, provoking comments (mostly jokes) from the likes of many so-called ‘now generation’ producers:

Skream (via Twitter): “I would genuinely like to know what pre dubstep tracks Carl Cox was playing”
Plastician (via Facebook): “Pretty sure I never saw Carl in Big Apple. You can name on your fingers and toes the people who opened the door for dubstep. You’d need a festival full of glove wearing squids to stand a chance of naming Carl Cox on fingers and toes.”
Sleeper (via Twitter): “Bach invented Jungle music in the 18th century”
Artwork (via Twitter): “RT if you invented dubstep …”

Pryda vs. Dirty South – Walking Alone 2Night (Mitch de Klein Mashup)

Mitch de Klein returns with a delirious bootleg of Pryda masterpiece ‘2Night‘ with an additional vocal boost from Dirty South & Those Usual Suspects collaboration ‘Walking Alone‘ featuring Erik Hecht. Both have really similar vibes, and when put together sound as though they were made for each other. Huge piano chords and charismatic synths; Pryda productions can stand alone as instrumentals but this edit will take you to another realm.
