Earlier today, Avicii announced a lineup of supporting DJ’s to join his Levels tour this summer. Gareth Emery, Chuckie, Arty, Morgan Page, CAZZETTE, Pleasurekraft and Swanky Tunes will all be joining the tour.
It’s Electric Daisy Carnival week. It’s been months in the making. Remember when we first broadcasted the news back in February? Consider every other event this week either a pre or post party. It’s all about the daisy’s this week. Be safe and have a great time!
Where We’ll Be
Ummm. We’ll be at EDC, duh! Usually, I can confidentially tell you we will be ‘here, here and here.’ But this week is funny. In a perfect world we would be checking out Fake Blood and Bart B More Friday at Webster Hall. And, actually, with the week Friday EDC lineup, maybe we will. So, Friday we’ll be there! I think. Gah! We’re just too excited for EDC. I wish Pacha NYC would’ve announced who will be playing the after parties. Good chance we will be there. Their Electric Zoo post-party-parties were great last summer. So our expectations will be high. Jonathan Peters at Webster Hall would be a great place to wrap up your Saturday too.
Recently Announced Shows Afrojack will be at the Borgata events center in New Jersey on May 26.
It seems like the wait has been eternal for AN21 & Max Vangeli’s debut album ‘People Of The Night’ but finally some previews and records are leaking for our listening pleasure. Zane Lowe just played their track versus Steve Angello ‘H8RS’ which the radio jocked named the hottest record in the world, and Pete Tong also put it on his Essential Selection last week. ‘H8RS’ is set to be the first single release off the forthcoming (date is not yet set) album and it’s a dirty one.
It’s heartening to see both parties and artists ripen like a fine aging wine, finding their footing and gaining the recognition that they deserve. That is exactly what is happening for NYC producer David Berrie, creating music under the progressive moniker of dBerrie, and the recurring Electric Beach event, held at Santos Party House, which dBerrie headlined this past Saturday.
dBerrie has been a production wiz for several years now, but 2012 has been his long over-due thrust into the spotlight. Undoubtedly, his remix of Gotye’s ‘Somebody That I Used To Know‘ has put him on the radars of many of today’s best DJ’s. It has gathered support from Fedde Le Grand, Deniz Koyu, Swanky Tunes and many more. Last time he graced Electric Beach he premiered it. Since then it’s been all hugs and handshakes. Returning this past Saturday, he gave New York City a lot to smile about.

A new producer dream team has been created with a collaboration from two of the biggest party electro producers, A-Trak and Dillon Francis. The new single features some of the bounciest synths perfectly prepped for the summer, with enough swag that we wouldn’t be surprised to see remakes from rappers and DJs alike.
Check out the video below from prankster Dillon Francis putting on his best A-Trak impersonation, complete with Burberry scarf, Sharpie beard and colored money from north of the border.
Electronic music pioneer Squarepusher is back with a new album and an accompanying world tour. The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and XLR8 have all praised his new live show, which was conceived, written, designed, and played completely by him. Every live show is different and unique, which is an extremely refreshing concept.
Watch an amazing live performance of one of his new tracks “Dark Steering” HERE, read a track by track analysis of the new album by Squarepusher himself HERE, and buy his new album “Ufabulum” HERE. Below is a list of his North American tour dates. Artists like Rusko and Skrillex cite Squarepusher as a major influence, and this new live show looks to be a true game-changer in both the IDM (Intelligent Dance Music) and EDM worlds.
July 31st – Portland, OR – Wonder Ballroom US

October 30th – New York, NY – Details to be announced soon
‘Wild Child’ is their first release and it’s beautiful. With a touch of Yelle and Tepr, they have brought back the French electro-pop sound that, at times, can be so hard to find on the market.
Available for free download (yay,) don’t listen below (well, listen below,) listen on their Hype Machine page. ‘Wild Child’ just landed on the popular charts. Be sure to heart it.
If you aren’t impressed by the electro of the moment and the artist that have spawned because of it, listen to this. One of those artists has moved away from that sound and did something that is, well, good.
Not your typical Hardwell track. Not the Hardwell you’ve been hearing for the last year or so, at least (remember this Hardwell?) This one sounds, dare you say, tech-y?
Electro tech.
The simple melody seems to work a lot better than the face melting synth forced on us.
Have you gotten to the point where you wish that you could groove without the crippling fear that that 14 year old with a fake id, American Apparel gift card and daddy issues wouldn’t
whack you in the face with a glow stick? Or that lame lacrosse player who lived down the hall freshman year wasn’t going to invite you to his table?
Have no fear…HEAT is here to usher in the next wave of electronic music – bringing a eclectic mix of electronic, nu-disco, and house beats to the cool kids of New York. Event details are here, but the dance party starts at 11 PM, Wednesday, May 16 at Lilium (201 Park Avenue South), the new lounge under the W in Union Square.
The Wilkes Agency and Gage Cass are partnering to bring Luka Son of Wolf, supported by weekly special guest to Lilium every Wednesday – where the music will always be fresh.
An unusual soft release last Friday has led to one of the quieter progressive tracks of the year.
Sebastian Ingrosso protege, Alesso enjoyed a successful 2011 but has remained relatively quiet in 2012. Much like Refune Records (who has to be plotting something!) he’s remained in the background besides touring the United States.
While Swedish House Mafia family associates have slowly eaten up the Beatport charts, you wonder ‘Where’s Alesso’ (this is all definitely part of an ellobarate strategy the Swedish House Mafia has made to take over the industry.)
Well, Alesso has arrived. While we wait on ‘Years,’ he gives us something that’s been in the making for quite awhile now. His ‘Silenced By The Night’ remix is more uplifting progressive as opposed to anthem-style (it’s all part of the plan, watch!) With wonderful Keane-vocals a la Elton John, ‘Silence By The Night’ is made into a feel good hit that will be taking over night clubs soon.
Perhaps the crown jewel of a stacked Saturday, the cosmicMEADOW, aka the Size Matters tent, will be the place to hear the best and freshest big-tent anthems.
It’s not everyday you come across collaborations spanning three countries.
But that’s exactly what NYC/Rome duo Jus Jack & Oza did on forthcoming single “We Are,” teaming up with Australian production team, Aeone to create what may well become one of this summer’s top anthems. Featuring a catchy perpetual-youth-oriented chorus tailor-made for festival crowds and lightweight electro synths over pleasant house chords, the track is a progressive feel-good number that builds to Kaskadesque heights.
Jus Jack & Oza have released a preview of the track, which will soon be released on Moda Records. Check it out today before it finds you at your next festival.
