This year we physically will move to New York as Citi Field plays host (officially the 1st time in NY and not a “return”) and we’ll shine a spotlight on what each day has to offer with ‘Everything You Need to Know.’ We’ll break down what sets you can’t afford to skip out on and what we are dying to hear this weekend. Stay tuned tomorrow for Saturday.

This image is of one patron from this past weekend’s Electric Daisy Carnival in Flushing, NY. This image has been circulated with hateful comments such as “Don’t be this girl” and other insensitivities. I sadly had to witness this girl get carried past the entire front from of Circuit Grounds instead of discreetly around the back. Perhaps if instead of shaming her and snapping pictures on smartphones someone had actually helped her, this girl would be spared the disrespe ...Read More

Tiësto’s last minute birthday celebration at Lavo last Tuesday is a great example of the way that Twitter has become a potent factor in shifting social interactions. Last Sunday, Tiësto tweeted that he would be staying in NYC for a few days to celebrate his birthday, which elicited a response from Lavo inviting the DJ to spend his birthday at the midtown restaurant and club. Within hours, rumblings confirmed that Lavo would indeed be throwing a last minute party in Tiësto’s honor just two days later on Tuesday night.
I first wrote about Dutch presario Hardwell’s dashing new track Spaceman following his Pacha debut at the beginning of December. We then got an official preview from the man himself and a release date on his own Revealed Records. Just like his collaboration with Tiësto, Zero 76, we predict that Spaceman is going to be a bona fide club destroying hit.
Spaceman is characterized by an expectant, coursing drum filled lead-in, which then transitions into the Hardwell’s distorted heavy bassline with an electro twist. You can almost hear a little bit of Afrojack with the modified bleeps that take hold about a third of the way in. We’ve been waiting for this track for a long time now, as we’ve heard it in a plethora of sets over the past months. Get your hands on it NOW!
Hardwell – Spaceman

Listening to Eddie Thoneick is like being grabbed by a musical whirlwind. He brilliantly crafts rhythms, soaring house vocals and diving, filthy electro beats. The German stud just unleashed a monstrous mix which includes some of the latest club bangers, classics from the end of 2011, some incredible mash-ups, and bootlegs and edits that he has devised. Tracks to look out for in this mix are Mord Fustang’s electro bomb ‘We Are Now Connected’ and Eddie’s bootleg of R.E.M. and Red Hot Chili Peppers ‘Otherside Of My Religion.’ Full tracklist after the break.
Tracklist:
01. Trent Cantrelle – I Want A Freak
02. Linkin Park vs. Nicky Romero – Devine Toulouse (Eddie Thoneick Bootleg)
03. Arty – Accesione
04. Lana Del Rey – Video Games (Skitzofrenix & Jeff Doubleu Remix)
05. Deniz Koyu vs. Blondie – Hybrid Heart of Glass (Eddie Thoneick Bootleg) Read the rest of this entry »
All I have to say is…holy crap. This juggernaut is definitely the ‘Prutataaa‘ of 2012. Rising champion, Angger Dimas tags up with the bass heavy dutch duo Bassjackers to make one of the biggest sounds of the year so far. An Electro inspired track including lots of dutch oriented synths with a mega drop that will have you off your feet for sure. Look out for this smasher, no official news on the release, stay tuned!
18 year old Australian producer Walden released a new track for hitting 500 Facebook likes. Last week Walden stormed onto the EDM scene after his track ‘Brightness‘ was featured on Pete Tong’s Essential Selections, Gareth Emery’s Podcast and let’s not forget our very own Weekend Playlist. Look for big things to come from this up and comer.
Tim Mason’s re-touch of ‘Anima‘ is a tad obscure. Not from a production stand point, but from a similarity stand point. The two tracks seem to be identical. After a few listens, you might realize that this update is less hard hitting and meant to be more geared toward a dance floor (rather than a mosh pit.)
No release details are available, but this is likely to be released on Steve Angello’s Size Records.
Originally previewed in Vancouver, Canada and making it’s largest debut in New York City, Ivan Gough (of TV Rock) & Feenixpawl’s ‘In My Mind’ was one of the most talked about tracks to come out of the Swedish House Mafia performance at Madison Square Garden.
The all-Australian track features Gorgeous vocals from Georgi Kay and a melody that has anthem written all over it. Last week, we named it our No. 2 most anticipated track of 2012.
Axwell’s record label, Axtone Records, will be releasing it. But, before it’s due to come out, the big boss man wanted to do some re-tooling on the cut. His mix features an extended build up, if nothing more. Not as crafty as his ‘Resurrection‘ recut. Fans might clamor a bit over the name, but the original mix seems to still stand out the most.
The master of Dutch House, Chuckie, brings us another hard hitting make you jump track this morning. Together has a thumping recurring baseline that is Chuckie’s signature, but also melodic piano intervals and lofty vocals to compliment the undertones. Look for the full track to be released Jan. 30 on Big Beat Records/CR2
For the second installment of Tiësto’s In The Booth series you get to travel with him and his team to Las Vegas for his back to back Memorial Day weekend shows. We got introduced to the people who surround Tiësto in the first installment, and today we learn a bit more about his tour manager Kelly Cobb. Hear Tiësto discuss his apprehension before a gig (see even pros get nervous!) and see the obviously amazing penthouse he gets to inhabit. Perfect viewing for a lazy Saturday afternoon.
