This image is of one patron from this past weekend’s Electric Daisy Carnival in Flushing, NY. This image has been circulated with hateful comments such as “Don’t be this girl” and other insensitivities. I sadly had to witness this girl get carried past the entire front from of Circuit Grounds instead of discreetly around the back. Perhaps if instead of shaming her and snapping pictures on smartphones someone had actually helped her, this girl would be spared the disrespe ...Read More

Firstly, happy holidays from the whole EO staff! This week, shows are a touch light because of Christmas, but for you die-hards, we have a few things we think you should check out. Also, peep the recently announced shows section for an early look at what 2012 has in store for us!
Where We’ll Be
Frenchman Bob Sinclar is definitely worth a gander. David Berrie along with Zaken too. So, that’s where we’ll be! David Berrie is an EO favorite and will hit hard on the main floor. He has a slew of unreleased music on his Soundcloud that he is sure to unleash, so look forward to that. Zaken is responsible for one of the best intros of 2011 and will be opening.
Recently Announced Shows Plastic Plates Will be at Yotel on Jan. 14.
Skrillex will be at the Roseland Ballroom on Feb. 3, Terminal 5 on Feb. 4 and Pacha NYC, with Zedd, on Feb. 1.
Speaking of Pacha NYC, BT will be making his debut there on Jan. 6. The trance continues with Arty‘s debut on Jan. 13 and even more trance on Jan. 27 with Cosmic Gate. And, if that wasn’t enough trance for you, Sander Van Doorn will be spinning on Jan. 28.
We’re bringing another exclusive gem for you today. Hyperbits, the collaboration project of Robert Palliser & Serik Slobodskoy are back again with another progressive friendly, feel good remix of the Michael Woods tune, ‘Last Day On Earth’. The lead lick is extremely catchy, and seems very reminiscent of something the Bingo Players would put together. With some euphoric and well processed Deadmau5-ish plucks, along with the epic vocals provided by Duvall, the verses are a welcome break from the overwhelmingly simple chorus leads and jumpy rhythm. I personally had to give the track two consecutive listens before averting my attention to writing this post. A very clean production from the Hyperbits guys, and makes me look forward to see what they have in store for 2012. This track was produced for the DJ Academy Residence Remix Competition. Expect a download after the competition ends in a couple weeks. Follow them on Facebook and Twitter for more.
For the people who have an account on JunoDownload you can show some support by clicking the LIKE on the link below & help Hyperbits in this competition!
My buddy Joel Jungell just had his first big release on Beatport this week! An uplifting progressive house tune, ‘Head In The Clouds’ will surely grab your attention with this catchy piano riff! Additionally, the track was launched in his startup label, ‘Incalzando Records‘. I highly recommend giving the song a listen as it surely won’t disappoint. Support Joel and grab a copy for yourself here on Beatport!

Coming in at the number 8 spot is Nero’s ‘Promises’ off of their album Welcome Reality. The track blew up overnight and topped the UK Singles Chart at number 1 within the first week of the release! Of course it also reached its way across the globe instantaneously. I feel like whether or not you’re a dubstep fan, ‘Promises’ is a track that every EDM fan can appreciate. Coming in on that soft piano riff with those beautiful lyrics you know its the eye of the storm and Hurricane Nero is ruthless! The drop is a part we all love and EDM fans everywhere just hit the deck and get smacked with bass and awesome sounds everywhere. Nero produced a gem that was really grasped by everyone across the world and we can only hope to see what is next in store for these UK masterminds.

Tis the season for DJ mixes and tour announcements. I’m excited to write that Thomas Gold, who had his Pacha debut in November, will now be embarking on a US tour starting in January. Gold had quite a year. You could basically go nowhere without hearing his track with Dirty South, Alive, and his mix of Adele – Set Fire to the Rain. Gold has support from the Size Matters crew and opened up for Steve Angello at Governors Island in August, which still rates as one of my favorite venues in the city. Hopefully the summer returns soon…
2012 will bring not only a US tour for Gold, but also several releases, including Henrik B – Leave A Light On (Thomas Gold Remix), Dirty South & Thomas Gold – Eyes Wide Open and Sing2Me. Take a look at Gold’s tour dates and a listen to his mix after the jump! Read the rest of this entry »
Pacha had been promising a big announcement today, and it came just a few minutes ago that Skrillex, Zedd, and Sazon Booya will be putting on a show Weds. Feb. 1 in New York. Almost simultaneously SPIN posted that Skrillex would be headlining a series of show both in NYC and in LA. It looks like tickets are mostly going sale tomorrow at noon, HERE on Ticketmaster and on Pacha’s website. This is going to be a massive year for Skrillex, who has been garnering amazing media coverage and was nominated for 5 Grammys, including Best New Artist, which is a huge coup for the EDM world. Check after the jump for your opportunities to check him out next year!
Update: Skrillex just posted to his Facebook that he will be dropping his new EP Bangarang on Beatport Friday. The week of Skrillex?? Read the rest of this entry »
Ahh, if there is anything good about the end of the year, it’s the epic mixes that DJs put together to sum up the year. We already saw the Annual Report from Swanky Tunes and now Dada Life has ground up and spit out some of the year’s biggest tracks in their Goodies 2011 mix. This bad boy boasts banger upon banger which might give you flashbacks to the year that was and nostalgia for all of the insanity that went down. Be sure to get your hands on this one and play at will.
British duo Third Party is one of the more exciting acts to be coming from the land of our brothers from another mother located across the pond. You’ve probably heard their still un-released remix of Otherside about a million times, and with good reason because it is a nasty track. Keep track of them on Facebook as they continue to gain traction, with support from Steve Angello and others to guide them. Here they put a progressive house spin on the soon to be released Tiësto track, giving it a whole new big room feeling.

As if I weren’t already literally dying to go to Kazantip, the wild months long rave on the edge of the Black Sea, today Grusha Records uploaded the official video for Vengerov – Kazantip Intro, mixed by Swanky Tunes and Hard Rock Sofa. From the perspective of bleak, dreary wintertime NYC, the debauchery and sun of Kazantip in the video looks actually like heaven and as a YouTube commentator wrote the music ain’t half bad either “OOOOOOOHHHHHHH MY GOD !!!!!!! i wanna have sex with this song !!!!!!! right now !!!” If that isn’t a rousing endorsement, I don’t know what qualifies. This is definitely a NSFW clip, but it does capture actual events, so perhaps you could pass it off to your boss as a documentary? In any event, it’s a must watch.
Calling all Jewish kids and everyone else who doesn’t care about being heinously hungover on Christmas morning!! Our good buddy David Berrie is back at Pacha NYC this Christmas Eve with promising upstart Rejoyce, who has recently seen support from artists like Dubfire and Popof. Pretty impressive stuff. This is a 19+ party, and be sure to get on the Crew Run Run guestlist HERE. Get amped and listen to David’s new tech track “Behind The Front” coming out on Monique Speciale, and Rejoyce’s track “Real Nice” which he is giving away for free! Just some words of wisdom before venturing to this show. You will be hearing grimey, techy, deep, pure house music. Do not expect Avicii ‘Levels’. You might be unpleasantly surprised.
