Today is a special day for Popeska as he releases his inaugural EP ‘Karmameter‘ on Kindergarten Recordings. Popeska quickly went from being a dorm room producer at Georgia Tech known for releasing superbly produced freebies, to a Wolfgang Gartner supported electro master releasing on Wolfgang’s resurrected imprint. If you thought that the South primarily bred quality music in the form of hip-hop and country, Atlanta bred Popeska will certainly prove you wrong.
Also, if you have the impression that all electronic music has a similar flavor these days, Popeska’s ‘Karmameter,†will undoubtedly show you that his enthusiasm and love for music sets his tracks apart. It is clear that Popeska has an appreciation for production and his myriad music influences, including classical, jazz and folk, shine through.
The EP is as varied as Popeka’s inspirations, from the ethereal vocals on grinding tracks ‘Liar’ and ‘Atlantis’ to the artistic composition of Wolfgang’s edit of ‘Now Or Never’ there is something for all. Namesake track ‘Karmameter’ is an extremely successful and gorgeous foray into a melodic side of electro house, a refreshing turn on the genre of the moment.
Young Popeska will be supporting Wolfgang as he travels across the country on his Love & War Tour, so it is generally a must to pick up your tickets for when the show makes a stop in your hometown. Popeksa may be as talented live as in the studio, as seen first hand during his opening set for the Kindergarten Recordings launch party over Ezoo weekend in NYC.
