Earlier this month Mixmag reported that Pepsi would be bringing on some of the biggest EDM producers to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Michael Jackson’s Bad LP by issuing a special edition remix pack.
It’s a daunting task to remix a former international number one hit – let alone making a pop song relevant 25 years later – but Afrojack preserves the best elements of the original while creeping in some harmonic synths and trademark blips and beeps to honour the King while making it his own.
Fans will be able to hear this remix, along with versions from A-Trak and Diplo, by purchasing a special edition Pepsi can and scanning a code. It sounds like Pete Tong’s concern of the corporate world putting it’s stamp on EDM is coming to fruition. What do you think?
