An Armin Van Buuren favorite and A State of Trance-menace–that’s what your should know about Shogun before you get the grand introduction.
Going from listening to one of your favorite DJ’s as a mere fan to becoming one of their go-to remixers might seem like a distant dream for most electronic music producers but it’s the reality for Andrew Chen, aka Shogun. In just a few short years, the American DJ and producer has become a favorite of Van Buuren and was the first Asian DJ to be signed to his S107/Armada record label. Currently standing at No. 122 on the DJ Mag Top 100 list–a massive leap from No. 231 only one year before–Shogun has firmly cemented himself as one of the world’s top up-and-coming trance and progressive DJ’s.
With the buzz circulating around ‘Skyfire,’ the spring 2011, Ferry Corsten-inspired, release, Shogun has set the stage for his Lotus & Space Odyssey EP that is to be released Monday, Nov. 28.
Along with Van Buuren, Shogun has gained support from the biggest names in trance music including Corsten, Paul Van Dyk, Above & Beyond and the unicorn slayer himself, Markus Schulz.
The young American looks to be one of the future key holders in the trance world.
After the jump ‘Space Odyssey’.
