This week we’re bringing you back to an old Calvin Harris track from 2009. ‘I’m Not Alone’ is an earlier track from Calvin that was released on his album ‘Ready For The Weekend’. Featuring some interestingly deep vocals and overall feel of the song, especially considering at this time most of Calvin’s songs were more based on being funny. Although deep, this track also has the perfect amount of energy to make it still fun to listen to.
This was released back when Calvin had an extremely small fan base. You can tell because Chris Brown’s producer for the song ‘Yeah 3x’ actually ripped off the track, causing controversy between the two. Because of this, Chris Brown later had Calvin Harris added to the credits of the song.

By now you’ve probably heard it, the strong and late contender for release of the year, ‘Sweet Nothing.’
When you pair, arguably, the world’s best vocalist and electro-pop producer together you’d expect a hit, but to be this flagrantly good, who’d a thunk?
A commercial release we all can enjoy.
‘Sweet Nothing’ will be released as apart of Calvin Harris’ ’18 Months’ album on Oct. 14.
“Sweet Nothing” is one of those singles that you know will be flooded through the radio airwaves, even though it is still to be released on Calvin Harris‘ upcoming album, 18 Months. Maybe it’s the radio friendly hook, the hypnotic voice of Florence (of “+ The Machine” fame), or the combined star power of both names on the track. Either way, the single has received the remix treatment from Tiësto. He doesn’t stray far from his classic big-room formula, but put together with Florence’s angel vocals, it’s a powerful release to look forward to.
Check out the preview clip that kicked off Annie Mac’s Radio1 show last week – might we add Florence isn’t the only angelic voice to grace this clip.
Fresh off two recently acquired VMA’s, that one can only imagine how much the video aspect really matters, Calvin Harris took home awards for Best Video , ‘We Found Love‘ and Best EDM Video, ‘Feel So Close‘, in the category’s inaugural year. The Scottish native worked alongside Nicky Romero, fresh off his E-Zoo gig and release ‘Iron’ off of Protocol Records.
A formulated combination of dirty dutch and electro house is a procedure Romero has definitely perfected and to add the talents and vocals of Calvin Harris to the track, the finished product results in a somewhat familiar progressive anthem. No doubt this is a big room beat, it’s not hard to imagine a tune like this making the rounds in the progressive scene.

For the sophomore release on his label Protocol Recordings Nicky Romero is going big with a high profile collaboration with Calvin Harris entitled ‘Iron.’ The track, which features those familiar Harris vocals, promises a Sept. 10 release – Nicky included it on his Protocol Radio podcast and Pete Tong will be giving its worldwide debut this coming Friday on BBC Radio 1. The first release from Protocol boasted Nicky and up and comer ZROQ for the banging electro track WTF!? ‘Iron’ stays true to the label’s worldview and is a hard electro tune.
Friday’s Girls & Boys party at Webster Hall has to be one of the more anticipated iterations of the weekly event in recent memory. Known for its eclectic and highly compelling billings, the long-running fiesta continuously attracts the finest talent in dance music. With young Aussie Walden making his US/NYC debut and French Surkin coming back to the hallowed halls after having a series of visa issues that marred past dates, so suffice to say that everyone was ready for this show to go off with out a hitch.
Walden
Walden has been storming the house music world in 2012, having gained early support from Pete Tong for his track ‘Brightness.’ The hyper-talented youngster is consistently pushing out interesting and well produced music that spans genres. Thank goodness for the whimsy of youth and its mandate for experimentation. Right following his show at Webster, his remix of Ivan Gough & Feenixpawl’s ‘In My Mind’ is currently residing in the top 10 of the Beatport progressive chart and in the top 50 of the overall chart. Not half bad for a kid who hasn’t graduated college yet.
Out soon on Calvin Harris’ Fly Eye Records is this soon-to-be late summer anthem.
Kind of low on anthems this summer, eh?
Well, Hard Rock Sofa comes to our rescue with the effective ‘Starlight’ melody. Far and away different from the acid Hard Rock Sofa spilled alongside Swanky Tunes, in what is now No. 1 on Beatport’s progressive chart, with ‘Here We Go.’
Hard to argue against the Russian trio’s duo’s success in 2012. Beginning with ‘Quasar,’ then on to ‘Apogee,’ ‘The Edge‘ and the aforementioned ‘Here We Go,’ Hard Rock Sofa looks to finish strong in the second half of 2012.
Get involved with Vicetone, two super producers hailing from the Netherlands who have put their own spin on Flo Rida’s ‘Whistle’ for your pleasure, available on their Soundcloud today. No it’s not the Juelz Santana ‘Whistle Song’ (although that would be fun, no?) but it’s damn good. Also check out Vicetone’s recent remix Calvin Harris featuring Ne-yo ‘Let’s Go’ which has been tearing up the charts.
