noferini EVENT: Stefano Noferini @ District 36 3.10

This Saturday, District 36 blesses us again with another event of outstanding proportions. For only his second appearance in NY, the first being last June at Santos Party House, Stefano Noferini mans the decks at the home of New York’s biggest disco ball. Coming off a year of Beatport domination, there is alot to look forward to from the Deeperfect Records head. Renowned for his fast tempo and groove filled sets, the stage is most certainly set for what may be one of the best parties this early in the year.

The opening duties will be handled by New York’s own “tech gangster” Ralph Berr along with Sleepy and Boo. It is highly recommended for those who truly appreciate tech house to make their way to D36 Saturday for it will be a set they will never forget. A beautiful Gary Stewart Audio sound system is the only way to truly grant a Noferini set proper justice and District is the place to find it.

dubifree2 EVENT : Dubfire @ District 36 2.25

For techno enthusiasts, it is hard these days to find events solely dedicated to dark, fast paced, techno. Luckily the new mecca for tech house/techno enthusiasts is located right in NYC, District 36. Hosting some of the biggest names in the business such as Lee Burridge, Steve Lawler, Peter Rauhofer, Victor Calderone as well as many others, this venue is dedicated to throwing the best parties with the purest music.

This Saturday the venue plays host to Sci+Tec label boss and techno legionnaire Dubfire. Ranked 26 on the RA Top DJs of 2011 the former Deepdish member knows how to throw down when he plays at D36. Renowned for his pursuit of technical advance and developing the most cutting edge musical production around, Dubfire’s sets are filled with devastating kicks and dark techy sounds that set the stage of a techno revival.

The opening sets will be handled by production duo SHDWPLAY and New York’s own Sleepy and Boo. What is undoubtedly setup to be another soiree of techno destruction it is highly recommended for all who strive to better their musical taste to make the journey to D36 this Saturday, for not one person will be disappointed.

Jay Costa – Pianore

Pianore is the debut Beatport track for local producer Jay Costa. Released on Juuhch, Pianore is a piano filled (hence the name) progressive tune with uplifting melodies and a soothing chorus. Costa started producing just over a year and a half ago, after a short stint DJing inspired by his first trip to LIV Miami at the tender age of 18. Quickly bored with just spinning disks, Costa turned to making his own music under the influence of greats such as Eric Prydz and Daft Punk. Although Pianore just garnered official release, the track has already been heard in such NYC spots as Lavo, courtesy of The Chainsmokers and District 36.

MONDAY MIX: Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike – Live @ Mysteryland Chile

MONDAY MIX: Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike Live @ Mysteryland Chile

Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike recently smashed their set at Mysterland Chile to smithereens, enjoying surprise guest drop-ins from Sidney Samson and Tocadisco. This 90 minute set is the perfect preview for what fans will be hearing from the brotherly duo on their US tour. They will be spinning at Lavo Jan. 26 as part of their North American stopover. EO checked the pair out during their debut at District 36; their grimey beat dropping style makes for an absurd experience, so be sure to check them out while they’re in town.

Where We’ll Be
Now, before I get stoned by our faithful readers for listing Pauly D as one of the shows you should attend, know that the Halloween Monday is slim pickins in terms of big DJ’s. The Webster Hall Halloween parade after party is quite promising. People have called it the best Halloween party in the country. We will be at Congorock Thursday and Porter Robinson + Madeon Friday. After Robinson’s stunning set at Electric Zoo, we wouldn’t want to miss an opportunity to see him live. Madeon, if you didn’t know, is a 17-year-old French prodigy that burst on to the scene with his remix of Deadmau5′ ‘Raise You Weapon,’ followed by his 39-song mash up, ‘Pop Culture‘ It is his first time in America and a treat indeed.

Recently Announced Shows
A-Trak will be at Lavo Nov. 17. Lavo will continue to pull in the big acts as Tiesto will be there a few weeks later on Dec. 1.

Dubfire will be at District 36 Nov. 26.

LM REVIEW: Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike @ District 36 10.20.11

This Thursday saw the North American debut of powerhouse Belgian duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike at District 36 in New York. Starting their set at Midnight and playing till around 1:30, the crowd was bombarded with anthems from beginning to end. There are plenty of reasons to be excited about catching a Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike set, but none more than their unparalleled accapella skills. Numerous tracks seamed to go off much harder with the addition of some catchy vocals…Tiesto’s ‘Maximal Crazy‘ with ‘Bounce‘ accapella from Kelis, Sandro Silva & Quintino’s ‘Epic‘ with vocals from Kings Of Leon ‘Sex On Fire’, and Afrojack’s ‘Pacha On Acid’ featuring LMFAO’s ‘Sexy And I Know’. Some other notable tracks were their ‘Save The World’ remix with Angger Dimas, Smash The House single ‘REJ‘, and a Swedish House Mafia supported bootleg of Size Records release ‘Generation X’ and Duck Sauce’s ‘Barbra Streisand’. I managed to get a few of those drops on film amidst the chaos generated by District 36‘s gigantic speakers (they were literally 10 feet tall). Check out the videos after the jump for a better feel of how the night went. Overall I’m real happy that I was able to witness the NYC debut of Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, and I’m certain that they’ll be headed back sometime soon.
