Named a ‘Mutant Monster‘ by John Dahlbäck in his weekly podcast, Swanky Tunes’s most recent release ‘Apogee‘ dropped yesterday to critical acclaim. They have a new collaboration with Tiësto feat. Ben McInerney entitled ‘Make Some Noise‘ which will be released as a part of Tiësto’s ‘Club Life Miami‘ album April 24. In short, their pipeline is full and they are delivering the goods on a consistent basis. Swanky Tunes’s return to NYC, following sets at Pier 94 and Pacha on New Years Eve, was no different. Playing from 4:30-7 AM, those in attendance were enthralled as if it were a 2 am set. Click through for the full deets and video! (more…)
Finnish French House producers Lenno and Brazilian electro house minds Felguk both took a walk around the block with ‘Eyes Wide Open,’ the sophomore track from the dream team of Dirty South, Thomas Gold and vocalist Kate Elsworth. Released today on Phazing Records, Lenno’s take is straight disco in the real tradition of their country’s house perception. Lenno takes the track molds it into a glitchy example of pure electro house, prefaced by strumming piano chords.

After the wild success of the last Anomaly, with Porter Robinson and Bass Jackers fronting the bill, the show returns to Terminal 5 on Saturday, March 31st. With an awesome lineup that features EO favorite Pierce Fulton, Laidback Luke, Martin Solveig, and a rare NYC appearance by Felguk, this night is sure to be massive. Terminal 5 is also a fantastic venue for EDM, and I have seen many gigs there (including Justice and Boys Noize) and consistently been blown away by the production and sound quality. Tickets are on sale HERE.
Felguk’s On Repeat Mix
When you’re talking regions of electro, Brazil has to come into the discussion. They’ve perfected the dub-house/electro-step sound before it was trendy to make that style of music.
Case and point, these two remixes.
Firstly, his take of Candylands’ ‘Koyote.’ What a drop, what a breakdown. It’s like dub step at 128 BPM (and minus the frustrating bells and whistles.) The remix turns the original on its head and shakes out it’s pockets. A true hardcore dance/rave track. It’s available for purchase on Beatport.

Deadmau5, whether you’re a lover or hater, is a polarizing figure in the EDM community. Many DJ’s do not play his originals. Not because they aren’t good, but more so because they’re too good (if you can find a video of a DJ, other than Deadmau5, dropping ‘Strobe’ please leave it in the comments section.) It’s a respect thing. His music, of course, isn’t exclusive just to him, though. He’s usually the one doing the remixing, but every once in a while someone will intemperate one of his tracks.
Mr. Mind did! Deadmau5 thinned the line between progressive and trance with his 2008 release, ‘Not Exactly,’ Mind electrified it in 2011.
The grimey electro sound that gives way after the drop is, simply, incredible. Deadmau5′ music has proven to be insane when it is of the electro variety. Mind furthered that
Deadmau5 – Not Exactly (Alex Mind Re-fix)
Huge track coming up from the two Brazilian electro gurus, Felipe Lozinsky and Gustavo Rozenthal aka Felguk. Bassive is an anthem in store as an end of the year electro-house banger. Huge build with a memorable, ‘Bass’ into a highly energetic floor pounding drop. This track is to be released on Beatport November 22nd and officially on iTunes, December 20th. Keep an eye out for this gem.
Electro house lovers are probably familiar with the Brazilian duo, Felguk. For years, they have put out quality, disco-inspired, electro house. They gained momentum with releases such as ‘Buzz Me,‘ and their remixes of ‘Dance Forever‘ and ‘Exceeder‘.
The stage was set for them to jump to the next level on the EDM scene. They were to release, perhaps, one biggest tracks of the year (the year being 2010,) ‘Blow Out.’ If you’re not familiar with the background of ‘Blow Out’ look no further than Youtube. The teaser was released a year ago, last November. Fans went wild. Then, they waited. And waited, and waited.
More waiting gave way to frustration from eager fans. But, alas, after months of watching that same 49-second clip, ‘Blow Out’ was officially released in June.
A year after the initial teaser, five months after the release and one month after being ranked No. 87 in the DJ Mag Top 100 poll, Felguk has hit us with the remix package for their folk legend of a song. With electro remixes from Lazy Rich, Electrixx, and Heartman Chess, a progressive cut from the Barcelona duo David Amo and & Navas and even a remastered cut of the original, this EP has sounds for everyone.

Mason, a dutch duo comprised of Iason Chronis and Coen Berrier, had tremendous success with their 2007 hit, ‘Exceeder’. Initially, it was just an instrumental first popularizing the UK; the track added vocals and there’s your 2007 bar/club banger. Mason has been pretty quiet since, but have released 3 singles this year along with 4 separate remixes, most of which were released by their label, Animal Language.
Mason – Exceeeder
Mason’s ‘Perfect (Exceeder)’ fits right in with that grouping 2006-7 electronic tracks that decided it’d be best to feature scantily clad women throughout their videos (it doesn’t hurt visually). Not sure who did it first (maybe Benassi with ‘Satisfaction‘?) but the Mason vs Superstar Princess video keeps with the trend, though one can’t help but question the visors.
The song still gets some love as Felguk and Tits & Clits both have some remixes released the past two years that are totally worth sharing.

Felguk has been pretty quiet so far this year, only releasing a few remixes and one original mix thus far. However, this Brazilian tandem can be described as anything but quiet. Past hit releases feature their party starting ’2nite’ and a personal favorite, Side by Side, which they turned into a sweet mashup alongside Skrillex’s ‘Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites’ and Dada Life’s ‘Unleash The Fucking Dada’ (Dirty Loud Remix). After a solid track record like that, keep your fingers crossed these guys hit the studio to make some more magic this year.
I’ve never been to Brazil, but if the parties are anything like Felguk’s beats, I wouldn’t want to leave there very often. Felguk will be playing their set at 1:30 on Friday at the Hilltop Arena, it will totally be worth heading out to Randall’s Island early to check them out.
A stunning mash up done by the Felguk boys. They used this as their Las Vegas EDC 2011 intro. Unbelievable stuff here. They perfectly blend their signature track ‘Side By Side’ with Skrillex’s ‘Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites’ and Dada Life’s ‘Unleash The Fucking Dada (Dirtyloud Remix).
We are not sure how to really describe the scene last night at Webster Hall. To say it was a rage fest is an understatement. The opening set came from Huoratron and he set the tempo with head banging hard electro from the start. We haven’t seen a DJ get that into his set since Markus Schulz at Electric Zoo. There was jumping, head banging, running, fist pumping… you name it, he was doing it and to a greater extent than the crowd. Hailing all the way from Finland, Huoratron laid the perfect groundwork for the awesome sets of music to come from Felguk and Skrillex. To continue reading click read more!
