Next Saturday, February 23rd, Marquee New York presents the breakthrough producer Quintino. Reopening last month after a top-to-bottom makeover focusing on being more of a music venue rather than about ‘the scene’, Marquee showcases what a club should look like. What was once a multi-room club that catered to the high end bottle service crowd has been resurrected as an all-encompassing open space decked out with 30-foot ceilings, a huge LED wall, and a half-million-dollar sound and lighting system. Marquee has already brought Tiesto and David Guetta to the booth, and look for more A-List DJs as we approach the Summer. For more information on the show, click here.
What we can’t wait to hear at Marquee – We are looking forward to Quintino dropping ‘Epic’ on the half-million dollar sound and lighting system. Marquee will surely erupt and dance music will be showcased at one of the finest venues in New York City.
Check out this video of the Electric Spotlight team that shows a behind the scenes look at what it’s like to hang with Quintino for the day. The video highlights hanging in Chicago before his show with Afrojack & Shermanology at the World famous Congress Theater. If you ever wondered what a day in the life of a DJ was like, here you go. Normal people during the day, rock stars at night. We will also be seeing Quintino on Wednesday night opening for Tiesto alongside Tommy Trash! For more information, click here.

Yes! With the arrival of summer weather comes the announcement of summer tours. Finally we can shed our winter skins and get our sunshiny dance on. With EDC NYC promising a lineup Friday, today superstar Afrojack announced 30 dates for his Jacked Tour, boasting all star support from his highly talented Wall Recordings crew of Bobby Burns, R3hab, Quintino and Shermanology for the different stops. Local market stopovers include EDC NYC May 20, The Borgata in Atlantic City May 26 and Penn’s Landing in Philly June 7.
Fans of dirty Dutch music, unite. Those who have their guard up around bleeps and bloops, keep away.
For as much great Dutch-style music there is, the not so good can surely trail it. Repetitive beep, beep, beep’s have their correct format and not every producer can nail it.
‘Circuits’ isn’t the strongest Quintino release, but with the dust still kicked up from ‘Epic‘ (the Dutch ‘Levels’) fans might want to give this one more of a chance.
Beep.

The Swedes and the Dutch kicked off the Miami season in style as Tiësto’s Team Netherlands competed on the pitch against Sebastian Ingrosso’s Team Sweden. The Dutch triumphed in the end (what DOESN’T Tiësto win…) but as the video showed, the Dutch team of Sunnery James, Ryan Marciano, Nick Romero, Sidney Samson, Afrojack and Quintino had a great time playing against the Swedish team composed of Alesso, Adrian Lux, AN21, Otto Knows and Dada Life.
Adidas outfitted the players, and their uniforms are now up for auction at Charitybuzz.com/RED. All proceeds will go to the Global Fund, which works to fight AIDS on the ground in Africa.
Dutch producer Quintino has teamed up with Moti to preview his follow up track to ‘We Gonna Rock,’ ‘The One and Only,’ and the, well, frankly, epic ‘Epic.’ This Afrojack styled Dutch bleep monster is slated for release on Nick’s Wall Recordings April 16. Get excited.
Previewed this track last week, Quintino officially released, ‘We Gonna Rock’. Released on Tiesto’s Musical Freedom label. Tiesto definitely had some influence on this one, probably why he played it at Lavo last week. The tune features a quintessential bassline and catchy synth melody that provides an electro house anthem to Rock to. Yes the pun was intended.

The last time Quintino released something at Musical Freedom it was ‘Epic‘, both literally and figuratively (Epic found it’s way to number 10 on our Top 25 Tracks of 2011). ‘We Gonna Rock’ features a pretty dope synth line with it’s official release date is set for next Monday, January 23rd, or as Quintino’s people might say, Januari. Quintino is a guy who didn’t make our top 10 of artists to look out for, but he is definitely someone everyone should keep their eyes on, especially working with a guy like Afrojack, have a funny feeling he might see some more success than Paris Hilton.
Quintino’s newest single ‘The One and Only’ is bleep heavy and definitely fits the mold of Wall Recordings, Afrojack’s label. The track got its first real airplay at Electric Zoo back in September during Afrojack’s set and in my mind can be seamlessly meshed with ‘Natural Disaster’, the two are strikingly similar. We officially previewed the tune last week but the single is officially released today and can now be purchased on Beatport.

In what may come to be known as the week of the remixes, today a monster 10 versions of Lady Gaga – Marry The Night were released on iTunes via Interscope Records. This package definitely shows the increased collaboration popping up between mainstream pop artists such as Gaga and EDM stars. No longer is it just David Guetta working in the pop world, but increasingly names like Afrojack and Calvin Harris. Here we see an even more diverse blend cast of characters releasing remixes that mainstream fans might not recognize, but will surely come to love.

Part progressive, part electro, some tribal and a splash of dutch.
‘Epic’ was a hugely buzzed summer song. Since Tiesto debuted it at EDC Las Vegas it has been a staple song in various DJ Sets.
To open our top 10 tracks of the year, this may come as a bit of a surprise, but few releases of this magnitude had a sound as unique as ‘Epic.’ The electro symphony that precedes the tribal melody is one of a kind.
Rediscover this song right now.
