If you haven’t heard about the uber-cool new documentary Re:Generation, you’ve clearly been living in an electronic music dark place. The official video for the original Skrillex version can be viewed here, and is a short preview of what the full documentary will look like. A first wave of screenings occurred Feb. 16, with the second coming this Monday, Feb. 23. Tickets are available here.

To sum the documentary up in short, Mark Ronson, DJ Premier, The Crystal Method, Pretty Lights and Skrillex team up with musicians from outside their musical realm to produce 5 amazing new tracks, which can be downloaded here, including remixes like Zedd’s. Via a preview of the film back in October, expectations are high because even the very short version looked extra dope. Today’s Big Beat Records release is a Zedd remix of the Skrillex collaboration with members of the iconic rock group The Doors. It’s a very nifty edit, full of young Zedd’s hard electro riffs, surely influenced by his German techno predecessors. Get a copy and check out more about the film!

EVENT: RE:GENERATION Preview Live Stream @ 8 PM

By MichelleKUPP (@MichelleKUPP) on December 7th 2011

During the musical mayhem that was CMJ, I had the chance to check out a preview of the super cool documentary RE:GENERATION MUSIC PROJECT. The documentary, produced in association with The Grammys, chronicles 5 collaborative projects between musicians of disparate genres. The documentary features 5 of the biggest electronic music producers/DJs right now, Mark Ronson, DJ Premier, The Crystal Method, Pretty Lights and Skrillex, as they work with masters of classical, funk, country, jazz and rock to produce unique tracks that showcase the best of the genres.

I was really impressed, even by the preview, so I can only imagine what the full version will be. Now tonight at 8 PM PT everyone has the chance to tune in for a live stream, hosted by Jason Bentley of KCRW, that will feature a preview of the documentary, a Q&A with DJ Premier, Skrillex, The Crystal Method, Erykah Badu and director Amir Bar-Lev and screenings of the newly produced tracks. So tune in to the Hyundai YouTube channel tonight to see the whole shindig go down. I’m excited to see tonight’s stream, along with the full documentary when it’s released.

Preview the tracks:

DJ Premier “Regeneration” featuring NAS and the Berklee Symphony Orchestra
