PREVIEW: Zedd – Clarity (Tiësto Remix)

By Scammer (@scammertime) on February 5th 2013

If “Clarity” wasn’t already charting hard enough as the current fan-favorite from Zedd, it’s now sure to explode after receiving remix treatment from the king of dance music himself, Tiësto. As we approach festival season kicked off by Ultra Music Festival in March, we’re certain to hear more big-room sounds of today’s classics, like the ones heard in this latest remix. Straying away from his trademark full-sound euphoric house, Tiësto adds in some choir vocals and classical piano chords, leading up to a Dutch drop that feels closer to hardstyle than house. Genres aside, look out for this one on main stages everywhere within a matter of months.

Throwback Thursday: Tiesto ft. BT – Break My Fall

Throwback Thursdays1 Throwback Thursday: Tiesto ft. BT Break My Fall

Tijs Michiel Verwest, better known as Tiesto, has been at the forefront of the dance music scene for over a decade. Throughout his career, the Dutch juggernaut has produced classics such as ‘Lethal Industry’, ‘Traffic’, and ‘Adagio For Strings’ just to name a few. Although Tiesto’s production style has changed over the past few years, switching it up from his usual deep trance to more upbeat progressive tracks, he still continues to blow fans away with every original production or remix he releases.

‘Break My Fall’, featuring the vocals of American musician BT, is an amazingly upbeat track with the classic trance sound of Tiesto. The single was originally released in April 2007 on Ultra Records, and was also included on Tiesto’s Elements Of Life album (2007), as well as his greatest hits album (up to that point), Magikal Journey(2010).

Passion Pit – Carried Away (Tiësto Remix)

By Scammer (@scammertime) on January 22nd 2013

After just celebrating his 44th birthday last week, the big dog Tiësto is back with a new release and video for Passion Pit, a favorite amongst remixers these days. The track “Carried Away” is laced with trademark Tijs big-room progressive synths with the hands-in-the-air euphoria we’ve come to expect as of late from the Dutch kingpin. After taking on remix projects for The Naked & The Famous and Youngblood Hawke last year, it’s evident that Tiësto has mastered the ability to preserve the important vocal elements of indie dance while blowing up the basslines for the main stage.

And if we can learn anything from the video, it’s that if you eat colored sand and ingest a match, you’ll explode into five doppleganger versions of yourself. Take notes kids.

Mashups are often like souffles – one wrong turn during creation and the delicate creature can completely collapse into a mess of ingredients. American trance super-duo Tritonal, however, has served up a delicious mix of their hit ‘Slave’ and Tiësto’s legendary ‘Break My Fall’ featuring BT, and the end product is a satisfying concoction that seamlessly interweaves the two tracks into a complexly beautiful progressive trance piece. Like any good dish, it certainly leaves you wanting more, so thankfully the boys have made it available for free download on their Soundcloud page.

PREVIEW: Calvin Harris ft. Florence Welch – Sweet Nothing (Tiësto Remix)

By Scammer (@scammertime) on September 19th 2012

<center>

“Sweet Nothing” is one of those singles that you know will be flooded through the radio airwaves, even though it is still to be released on Calvin Harris‘ upcoming album, 18 Months. Maybe it’s the radio friendly hook, the hypnotic voice of Florence (of “+ The Machine” fame), or the combined star power of both names on the track. Either way, the single has received the remix treatment from Tiësto. He doesn’t stray far from his classic big-room formula, but put together with Florence’s angel vocals, it’s a powerful release to look forward to.

Check out the preview clip that kicked off Annie Mac’s Radio1 show last week – might we add Florence isn’t the only angelic voice to grace this clip.

Firebeatz & Schella – Dear New York

By Chi (@CarnivoreGal) on September 10th 2012

Looks like Dutch duo Firebeatz are continuing their hot streak, this time teaming up with Schella to bring you the scorching electro bomb, ‘Dear New York’. With its distorted, pulverizing bass and breaks influenced beats, combined with a vocal sample from the Beastie Boys ‘An Open Letter to NYC’ (RIP MCA), ‘Dear New York’ is as gritty and grimey as the insomniac city itself.

Already supported by Sander von Doorn and Tiësto (who both fittingly dropped it at Electric Zoo), don’t be surprised if this massive track continues to pop up in live sets and podcasts this fall.

Purchase the track from Beatport here.
