TECH TUESDAYS: Phil Kieran – Juicy (Egbert Mix)
On December 6th, Phil Kieran Recordings, self-label of techno artist Phil Kieran released Series #001, a compilation album containing remixes and edits of the last eight Phil Kieran Recordings releases. While listening to the first four tracks of Series #001, I was steadily chair-grooving at my desk, but my attention was focused more on the seemingly indefinite volume of economics homework rather than the music. But, when that first bass line dropped in track five, ‘Juicy (Egbert Remix)’, my attention was pleasantly diverted.
‘Juicy (Egbert Mix)’ is a banger. There aren’t many other ways to put it. The bass drops to that “Carl Cox frequency” that makes your lips quiver and your nostrils flair involuntarily, while the hypnotic overtones and groovy drum sequence drive this tune straight into funky town!
Whether you’re a techno enthusiast or drum and bass fanatic, this tune is well worth a listen. ‘Juicy (Egbert Remix)’ undoubtedly earns Ethan’s Groove Guarantee, as well as a current #14 spot on Beatport’s Techno Top 100.
