Beginning with Jon Rundell, if you are a fan of obnoxious bass drops, I highly suggest checking this lad out. His infamous ‘Can’t Stop’ may blow out your ear drums but hopefully you will survive. Be sure to check your iPhone for the cheapest possible hearing aids upon your return home.
The rest of the superstars playing from 5 to midnight is a MUST go. Beginning with the infamous Dubfire, a master of the minimal genre will take you on either the most boring or most intimate hour long journey of your Friday, which is not for the faint of heart but definitely recommended.
If you are looking for a treat, look no further than Loco Dice. A man who is calloused from playing 16 hour sets within Ibiza’s most infamous nightclubs and also the worlds most Euro hungry festivals. He is only set to play an hour long, but a DJ who is used to playing such long sets has only one hour to chose his favorite tracks to play for his audience. Do not miss this.
If you have dared to leave the Carl Cox Tent at this point it will most likely be for either a bathroom break or hydrating yourself. Next up we have Richie Hawtin. Is there really much more to say? If you know this DJ, you are here to be wooed by his unbelievable skills. A highly requested and anticipated artist who ended Electric Zoo by exploding heads with his immaculate set. If all you prog lovers decide to go to Afrojack or Dirty South instead, you will be kicking yourselves when friends who did attend Richie Hawtin tell you how they were just Ear-fucked for an hour straight.
Next on the list is a personal favorite, but also an artist that must be seen live in order to fulfill your ultimate EDM experience. One of, if not the most talented masters of the DJ world, Carl Cox always delivers a fun, sexy memorable set that will stay in your hearts until the next time you see him. Britain’s biggest party-boy will have your earholes blasting and feet bouncing from playing the worlds best techno, just for you. If you end up missing this maestro for the always respected Tiesto, you always have your chance tomorrow…as the saying goes. Once shame on Carl, twice…shame on you.
At other Tents such as UMF Radio, Umek’s apprentice Beltek hits the decks at approximately 10 pm. According the the Ultra Lineup, Umek was supposed to make an appearance, however his name seemed to disappear unfortunately. On a better note, following Beltek are the Italian Techno Stallions, Phunk Investigation. This past year, Phunk Investigation has been releasing some of the best and hardest hitting tracks in the Techno genre. Definitely a highly recommended performance that you do not want to miss.
Aside from a day full of ASOT 550, the tech-house/techno artists that are performing are unreal for a solid last day of Ultra. The title of the tent really explains it all, UMF Ibiza is a place you should find yourself headed at some part on Sunday. Much like the Sunday School Tent at Electric Zoo New York, artists at UMF Ibiza include Joris Voorn, Steve Lawler, Gui Boratto, John Digweed and Adam Beyer. Every DJ performing at UMF Ibiza is a hand down must go to if you are a fan of the genre.
For all you New Yorkers, if you missed the Drumcode BLK Market Party that just passed, be sure to catch Adam Beyer’s set this time around. DO NOT miss Brazilian sensation, Gui Boratto’s set because he absolutely killed it at Electric Zoo this past year. The rest of the DJs set to hit the decks at UMF Ibiza are a high recommendation to attend. It is one of those well strategized line ups to keep the party going strong and you glued to your feet.
If you are looking to keep this Ibiza themed day going strong but want to switch up the atmosphere at 10pm when Adam Beyer is destined to perform, be sure to catch Seth Troxlers set if you missed it on Saturday. Adding to that ‘change of atmosphere’ statement, if your ear drums are not crying and deaf by this point, earlier in the day Italian tech legend, Stefano Noferini performs at 5pm in the Dome for a very personal appearance. If you are a fan of that bouncy tech house get to the Dome an hour early for a duel set by Manual De La Mare and Alex Kenji. Do not miss that performance because you might miss out on causing the Dome to quake from all of the booty shaking taking place.
Follow The Really Useful Guide to Your UMF Techno Experience, and you will be assured to enjoy and experience a wonder adventure of the mysterious genre. Including possible perforated ear drums and an extensive exposure to some of the worlds greatest music.
