The Weekend Beat 12.5 – 12.11

60 degrees around town recently, but it’ll get even hotter as New Year’s Eve approaches. (But don’t be fooled, it’ll be really cold outside soon.) A small sampler this week with names like Otto Knows, Tommie Sunshine, Pete Tong and Eats Everything delivering for us. Maybe one of the more diverse weeks–or are we just paying attention to smaller market genres more?

Where We’ll Be
Thursday we recommend the 5 Years Of Cecille party at Cielo. Deep. Yep, way down there, but without losing any of the funk. That kind of music. Interesting note: Q-Tip will be playing a DJ set at the Brooklyn Bowl. The trend of bands and artist picking up DJing is really selling themselves short. Many might agree they rather hear this performed live over seeing something like this. Friday we’re at the spilled CD-binder that will be Pacha. Pete Tong, Fedde Le Grand & Jody Wisternoff. We’re excited to hear what Pete Tong will play stateside. He’s really gone away from progressive and electro on his BBC broadcast, but still has all the goodie-goodies from the A-listers. Around 14th street we’ll have ears on-site for Eats Everything too. Saturday we will check out up-and-comers Dos Lokos for some incredible techno. If you have free time in the latter three days, we recommend Radio Slave on Monday night.

Recently Announced Shows
Monoloc will be at Cielo on Dec. 20.

Walden will be at Pacha Jan. 12. No event information at the moment.

Thomas Gold will be at Roseland Ballroom on Jan. 26. Hot Chip will be there on April 9.

Moguai will be at Santos Party House on Jan. 26. No event information at the moment.

According to their Twitter, Swedish House Mafia will be playing in town on Feb. 28.
