Throwback Thursday: Cassius

Cassius, the two part make up of Philippe Zdar and Boom Bass, known formally as Philippe Cerboneschi and Hubert Blanc-Francart, have been in the EDM scene longer than anyone in the 90’s has lived. The duo initially produced tracks for the legendary french rapper, MC Solaar. The guys then produced a few records under the name La Funk Mob and began using the name Cassius in 1996 (most of us were doing the ‘Macarena‘ at that time). Cassius has been releasing singles since then up to the present day. There most recent single, ‘I Love You So‘, found itself on Kanye West & Jay-Z’s new album (Watch The Throne’s, ‘Why I Love You‘). I’d prefer it get a fly dubstep remix, but from an economic standpoint I’m sure the guys don’t mind.

These guys are the essence of throwback. They’ve been around before EDM became what it is today, and these dudes should always get the recognition they deserve. Happy Weekend to those who are off tomorrow. To those who aren’t, join the club. After the jump one more track!
