Another single beginning with the letter ‘S’ (see: Shotgun, Slam the Door, Shave It, Stars Come Out, Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites). ‘Spectrum’ was officially released today on Interscope (we previewed the track a couple weeks back). Here at EO, we have nothing but high praise for the German, who happens to be one of our first ever interviews! ‘Spectrum’ helps state that Mr. Zaslavski (Zedd) is not a one trick pony.
‘Spectrum’ may be one of Zedd’s most elaborate and efficiently structured tunes. It shys away from the sounds you’ve come to expect as it fits its way into the electro house category. The funky synths alongside Matthew Koma’s vocals provide an excellent melody, though it was a shock to me that this is in fact a male singing (his voice most closely relates to Angela McClusky in Morgan Page’s ‘In The Air‘). This one is definitely a game changer and it perhaps it provides more understanding as to why Lady Gaga has chosen Zedd to help producer her next album. It seems as though Anton’s skillset is ever expanding and let’s not forget, he’s only 22.
